BVB posts new record profit
BVB posted a new record profit of 53.5 mio Euros (turnover 305 mio Euros) for 2012/13. The wages they have to pay currently are at 99.8 mio Euros (between 76 and 77 mio Euros of that sum go to the professional players).
Last year, BVB could enjoy a profit of 34.3 mio Euros (turnover 215.2 mio Euros), while their payroll was 74.5 mio Euros.

The BVB usually manages to balance their transfer income and expenses very well. This season they earned 44 675 000 Euros from player sales, while they spent 50 mio Euros for new players, making it a net spending of just 5 325 000 Euros.

Re: BVB posts new record profit
Oh, by the way, Aki Watzke also stated that Borussia Dortmund is as of now debt-free as their outstanding debits (68.7 mio Euros) and liquid assets (11.5 mio Euros) finally exceed their total liabilities of the KGaA (56.1 mio Euros) by 24 mio Euros.
Oh, and the 61.5 mio Euros profit given in the link below is profit before taxes.

Re: BVB posts new record profit
Outstanding debits is money that others still owe them, so it is money in the plus, just not lying around in Dortmund.

And yet they still can't hold onto their top players?

Re: BVB posts new record profit
Actually they choose not to hold onto players who ask too much money so that they can stay in the black numbers. In 2005, Dortmund went all but bankrupt, and since they recovered, they vowed never to go into the red again. And if you look at their results, their strategy can't be that wrong.Jamarcus Latarian III wrote:And yet they still can't hold onto their top players?

They went up to 305 million revenue? That's a huge jump and they are closing the gap with Bayern! With that revenue, they can really establish themselves as a giant in Europe. I think only Bayern, Barça, Madrid and man u have a bigger revenue now.

Re: BVB posts new record profit
Well, AFAIK this revenue contains the profit from player sales, which is relevant for the books here, but IIRC, Deloitte doesn't take this into account, so probably their numbers look a bit different. But nonetheless, Aki Watzke and the BVB board did an amazing job dragging Dortmund out of the debt swamp they were in and into positive numbers again.
