Exactly.
The Franchise wrote:Is anyone even worried?
Didnt give it a second thought.
Not worried because he has a contract until 2017 and a € 250M buyout clause so it's not in his hands anyway to bail out on his own terms and logically it should be impossible to sell Messi in 2015 during a transfer ban or in 2016 before elections. But logically the club should have also bought better than Vermaelen who is yet to debut in November (and not good enough to begin with even when fit) and Douglas to reinforce problematic positions before a 2 window transfer ban, let alone the Nerman fiasco, let alone the "let's sell Thiago to make room for Cesc and then also sell Cesc a season later to buy the flavour of the month Rakitic" fiasco and many other things. No doubt in my mind that the current board is genuinenly considering to sell Messi to make Nerman the #1 face of the club and fund their stadium project. It's definitely in their minds. This is still Rosell's project under Farto. They just can't fully justify it yet. Maybe if Suarez also starts to bang them in alongside Nerman and Messi remains his current good but not great goalscoring form they can start to advertise for Nerman-Suarez-Reus to justify selling "past his prime" Messi for triple digit millions.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
tbh it's probably just him fed up with the board and not backing him up, could be political maybe backing of lapota?
key words here "if it were up to me i would stay here forever"
rumors have floated for years now that rossell and Bartomeu have suggested selling messi to fund the renovation of camp nou maybe it holds weight?
but that's only really if we look at the small details, for all we know everyone's making a bigger deal about it over nothing.

We need a new board.
I am almost certain things would completely start to go positive for everyone involved if we got Bart and company out. *bleep*, I mean we NEVER for Bart to be president in the first place, he is only there because Rossell had to resign for being a rat. That alone should of been enough to warrant a new voting to start for a new president

I dont blame them for considering it, honestly.

Well, it wouldn't be a complete tragedy as this isn't 2011 anymore for sure and a frontline consisting of let's say Nerman-Suarez-Reus would be as elite as it gets as long as the rest of the team also gets fixed. But even though Messi has lost some of his edge he will still produce 35 - 40 goals and 20+ assists in a season and would strengthen all the teams that are able to actually afford him considerably. Imagine him going to Chelsea. Messi instead of Oscar playing off Costa or instead of Costa or instead of Ramires or Schürrle or whoever is playing right wing, depending on the specific game, is a major improvement. If the "strengthening European rivals" component wouldn't be there maybe one could think about it.

City, PSG and Chelsea can't due to FFP. And if they did, would have to unload like a good chunk of players to make it work. Plus all 3 of those clubs already have top strikers so he isn't needed.
Inter...with what money?! LMAO. No way they cough up 200+ million out of nowhere

we don't spend more than 30 mln for a single player since 2000 with Vieri and we were a rich club years ago..
I am surprised sometimes about the fantasy of journalists...
The only foreign club where I can see Messi a day is the PSG, but it won't happen though. Basically I think he will play forever with Barca and when his career will be going to finish he will come back to Newell's Old Boys

Something similar to Torres' loan perhaps. A 5 year loan maybe

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
For a player who has a magic wand as a left foot, his right foot is not so shabby either. Some sublime finishes this year with his right. He can even pass well with his right. The only thing he cant do with his right is dribble.
I have been his biggest critic on this forum but barring a couple of games,I have been extremely impressed with him this season.Main difference has been the effort and movement in offense. No longer static and attacks the box.The third goal against Espanyol a perfect example. The goals were bound to come and they have started coming.Even defends as well as can be reasonably expected.I think he is playing as well as I have ever seen him play in a few games this season.
CR may score as many goals as he wants but when Messi plays like this,he is just light years ahead.Cant believe there are actually people who consider CR to be better.

Actually CR never been better. He just scored more goals. And it was a surprise because Messi dominated scoring tables since 2008 (at the same time being truly best player). People mistaked it. They think if you score more you are better

Lionel Messi has scored his last 9 goals for Barcelona from 12 shots on target #fcblive [via opta]
don't even get me started on the amount of times he's hit the post.

He does not have that sharpness, neither have that speed anymore. Look at his second goal in last game. that speed, that agression are simply missing these days. It is one of the most beautiful movement from him. we still see him scoring the goals like the first one, where defenders are flooded around him and he finds the slightest sppace to score.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
Marca wrote:Barcelona left two points behind in Getafe. It was one more day when Leo Messi was not very influential. The extent to which Barcelona have depended on Messi this season is massive.
In recent years, the Barcelona boat has been navigated mainly by Messi's performances, though not to the extent that it has been this season. Either Leo is decisive, or Barcelona botch it all up.
The figures speak for themselves. Barcelona have dropped points in four games this season: at Málaga and Real Madrid, against Celta and now in Getafe, and Messi was not at his best in any of them, the problem being that there was no one who could take over from him.
In those four matches, his teammates were able to produce one solitary goal, by Neymar at the Bernabéu. As for the rest, there was nothing.
And in addition to the four games already mentioned, Barcelona also lost in Paris, where Messi did score a goal but it wasn't enough, and there was a clear victory in a cup match against Huesca in which he didn't play. In the 16 other games played this season, Barcelona have come out on top, and in nearly all of these, Messi had a part to play. In 14 of them he either scored himself or provided an assist, and in 13 of them he actually got the score off the mark, either with a goal or an assist.

Thank God we did not replace him with Suarez
That moment when even Marca defend Messi
