Official: Mauro Baldissoni named new General Manager
Quick translation from calcioblog.it:
Baldissoni from 2011 is part of the board of directors of the club, ie since the As Roma was sold to the then American consortium led by Thomas DiBenedetto. Baldissoni, which since 1996 has collaborated with Tonucci & Partners, has been the reference point for the Americans from the moment they began negotiations with the Unicredit for the acquisition of 78.0% of the shares.
At only 43 years of age, Baldissoni can boast a resume of the highest level. In his short but intense career as a lawyer was in fact concerned with, among other things, the process of privatization of Telecom as an advisor to the Ministry of the Treasury, and also followed the story of many other leading companies such as Alitalia, Enel and Lottomatica. The professionalism of Baldissoni as an expert in corporate and financial law is indisputable, but it seems clear that his role will be very different from what he had Franco Baldini ..
It is known that Baldini and Walter Sabatini worked together on the transfer market, a task that will be most likely not be entrusted to the new DG. Most likely from now on will only Walter Sabatini, with his close collaborators, will take charge of the transfer market under the supervision of Baldissoni which will have the task of keeping costs at bay together with the CEO Italo Zanzi.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm all on board for having him in the board of directors, but we gain nothing from having him and Zanzi holding higher positions. Both know nothing about football. He might be a better front man than Sabatini, since he can't handle microphones, and better than Zanzi who's Italian isn't good though he tries. I would have either promoted Fenucci, whose duties now are completely unknown, or a certain Bruno Conti.

Re: Official: Mauro Baldissoni named new General Manager
even though Blogs like Blogistuta tried to relate Baldini's departure to its nobler motive , I always had hard time believing that as i said in Baldini's thread Zanzi's appointment weakened his Role and he wouldn't have much power over management again that could be the same case for Fenucci , to be more clear i see this year as "Last chance harvey" and i Suppose appointment of Baldissoni ( the link between As Roma and unicredit) can only mean one thing more supervision over Sabatini , anyone else would have been a waste of time and position because if what i just said is the real reason behind this . again this is my own interpretation of the matter , sorry if i generalized it

Re: Official: Mauro Baldissoni named new General Manager
I don't know what Blogistuta or any other blog said about Baldini's departure, I rarely go read blogs.
Zanzi's appointment was purely a knee-jerk reaction to people saying "Where are the Americans? Who are they? I've never seen or heard from them" (Lotito was one of these people). It was a page right out of PR 101, to have a puppet play the front man to ease some of the media pressure.
The problem here is that Baldini's role was limited. Baldini has to be the number one man in charge because he's one of the smartest management figures in the footballing world, he's good at dealing with the press (he made one mistake right at the beginning, that's all) and he speaks English very well. Having had the pleasure of meeting him and having a quick conversation, I could assure you he was a good front man.
However, his problem was that he never asserted his authority. This may have been his choice or forced upon him, but anytime someone brought up the Americans, he should have said "Don't worry about them, I'm in charge here, I call the shots", therefore acting as the direct link between Pallotta and the rest of the club. His role, instead, got diminished by the day until he resigned.
Now, we're practically in August and we have two front-men, not one of them who knows a thing about football, but at least Baldissoni, as a lawyer, knows what a mess doing business in Italy is. For this reason I would've rather seen Fenucci promoted, who has much experience in Italian football. Bruno Conti would've been another option to act as a real front man, someone the fans could actually relate to and trust. As of this point, the fans do not trust Palotta, Zanzi, Baldissoni, etc.
