Giaccherini joins up with Sunderland

Emanuele Giaccherini is just an announcement away from completing a move from Juventus to Sunderland.

The Azzurri international arrived at the English club’s Italian summer training base of Peschiera del Garga this afternoon.

The two sides are understood to have agreed a transfer fee in the region of €8m for the versatile midfielder.

Giaccherini, 28, joined the Turin giants in 2011 from Cesena. Originally signed on a co-ownership for €3m, Juve paid a further €4.25m a year later to net him outright.

Considering how quick we have concluded our other transfer deals I was a little worried this wasn't going to go through.

But apparently his wife gave birth to a baby on thurs which slowed things down.
