Re: 41 clubs including 18 Serie A teams raided in Italy
Statements from Udinese and Chievo suggest today’s raid on clubs by financial police was targeting specific agents.
This morning financial police staged a co-ordinated raid on 41 different Serie A and B clubs, taking away boxes of documents.
“They also came to Udinese’s headquarters,” confirmed President Franco Soldati.
“They wanted to have the documentation relating to the activities of Alessandro Moggi and another agent. They took away documents regarding a player who was with us for five years.”
Chievo also released an official statement noting they have “collaborated fully” with the authorities, as their investigation is based on agents rather than the club itself.
It is believed this is a raid seeking to find evidence of tax fraud and even potential money laundering.
=====
Italy’s financial police have launched raids on the offices of 41 football clubs, including almost all of those in the top flight.
Eighteen of the 20 sides in Serie A were targeted by officers of the Guardia di Finanza as part of a probe by public prosecutors in Naples.
The police seized documents relating to transfer contracts signed by the clubs, players and agents.
The authorities are looking for proof of alleged tax evasion and possible money laundering.
Some of the clubs under the spotlight are: Juventus, Milan, Napoli, Lazio, Roma, Udinese, Parma, Pescara, Palermo, Atalanta, Juve Stabia, Benevento, Genoa, Catania, Spezia, Piacenza, Livorno, Bari, Vicenza, Siena, Reggina, Chievo, Cesena, Grosseto, Gubbio, Lecce, Ternana, Sampdoria, Triestina, Fiorentina, Portogruaro, Brescia, Mantova, Torino and Albinoleffe.
The activities of a number of unnamed foreign outfits are also being assessed. The investigation is reportedly monitoring the work of 12 agents too.

Lol its investigation on Agents not clubs lmao, well seems like not every league can allow their players to pay just 10mil as penalty for taxes after lying for 200+ mils *looks at messi*

Re: 41 clubs including 18 Serie A teams raided in Italy
Apparently i do need to explain
money laundering and tax fraud... meaning you intentionally defrauded the country and you're acting as a vessel to legitimize dirty money. Of course, this has to be proven. It's also a criminal case as well as being a civil one. The news story here is about the criminal investigation, not the civil one.
On the other side, you have clubs who filed their taxes properly but requested to defer payment due to liquidity issues, which is completely legal and often done. There is no case here.
As far as Messi, if it can be proven that he intentionally tried to defraud the country, then he goes to jail. It's criminal. But as of now, Spain has filed a civil suit against Messi for taxes owed. That you can pay off. If they are able to prove intent on Messi or his advisors, then it becomes criminal.
You guys are comparing apples to oranges.

Re: 41 clubs including 18 Serie A teams raided in Italy
Because its actually similar because they asked the clubs to give them players contracts only to examine if THE PLAYERS and the AGENTS are lying about the earnings and stuff like that and taxes this doesn't involve the clubs same like the thing with messi didn't involve Barcelonasportsczy wrote:Apparently i do need to explain

Re: 41 clubs including 18 Serie A teams raided in Italy
Inter President Massimo Moratti has refused to comment on revelations today that Italy's financial police raided the offices of football clubs.
41 clubs saw their offices taken over by police this morning, as officials look into possible tax evasion and money laundering by calcio clubs.
The Nerazzurri owner however, has insisted that the San Siro side have nothing to worry about.
“It was not a raid,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “But an acquisition of documents.
“I am very calm about it.
“We will try to understand better [what the police are looking for].”
Of course he is being calm, had enough influence to get away with Calciopoli too
Anyways, I don't think anything serious will come out of this, they are just gathering information (at least for now) as Moratti said. Probably found something suspicious with extensive relations.

Udinese confirmed one of the targets was Moggi – the son of former Juventus director general Luciano Moggi (pictured) – and his clients.
“The financial police is doing its work, they have to ascertain if there are any illegalities or not. In any case, I am relaxed,” said Moggi this evening.

According to latest rumours, the officers did not acquire any documents during their investigation at AS Roma headquarters.
The only requested information was related to former AS Roma ownership.

"18 Serie A clubs out of 20 which excludes Bologna and Cagliari"
Inter were highlighted in yellow just to show that they were mentioned as well. This is not a photoshop at all, this is from an actual Italian report.
