41 clubs including 18 Serie A teams raided in Italy
Headquarters raided by police as part of corruption investigation for tax evasion and money laundering. Wow.

This is awful tbh. It means that 18 out of 20 of the Serie A teams are suspected to have cooked their books. If the false bookkeeping is also the one sent to UEFA, UEFA has no choice but to severely sanction all of them.

Although i will add that tax evasion is a national pass-time in Italy If they want to arrest every person who evades taxes, they'd probably need to arrest 90% of Italians

An absolute embarrassment.
If this rubbish keeps up, Italian football will be seen as a stain.

Out of 20 Serie A clubs, only Bologna and Cagliari escaped the prosecutor of Naples' quest into possible criminal conspiracy, international tax evasion, invoicing falsification and money laundering.

Possibly the worst post you could have made Stick to your O-Level stats pls
OT: LOL at the judgemental sermons here. Doesn't anyone remember the same scandal within 2003/04 where the Stato & Guardia raided all clubs including Coverciano and discovered only memos and coffee stains?
Within Italia the clubs don't have a Reparti to protect them which is why they can be raided at any time unlike in the other leagues where there is safe-keeping from the law and media isn't tipped.
A raid does not automatically include corruption as the corruption is suspected within the externalities on bookmakers who associate with the club externalities themselves.
This raid is a bunch of hot air like it has been for decades within the Serie A until the last club that was caught was some Serie C1 club with bookmaking falsities and errors.

Re: 41 clubs including 18 Serie A teams raided in Italy
Disagree Arqi... when Interpol came out with their match fixing thing in February with Italy in the mix yet again, Antonio Manganelli was the main person in Italy that helped Interpol uncover it. At the time, he said "there's a lot more, but i don't want to make news of it until we have to". This is obviously what he was talking about.
This is all being done jointly with Interpol as part of uncovering worldwide corruption in footy. Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, Italy is spearheading it.

Personally I hope something comes of this and all the clubs are hit with significant fines so that they'll be forced to stop intervening in the market and instead play their youngsters instead. Life at Italian clubs will continue to go on as usual though I expect.

Yes and former Interpol commander Nino Di Paolo who now heads Guardia di Finanza is one of the chief proprietors of this project and he has been pushing this for years. You have no idea how much these authorities bank on catching these clubs red-handed due to the financial influx and 'Recedit" the receive just by these raids, even if its nothing.
Di Paolo has had it against FIGC for years and is one of the head bureaucrats within the Nord Italia. The authorities has little to no regard for the clubs who also have close affiliations with the Italia media, getting in the way of the vested interests of the Guardia.
And what was the result of the Coverciano raid? Criscito and a bunch of others just missing the Euros followed by being proven innocent.
These authorities within Italia (understandably) will do anything to spearhead these projects. Di Paolo goes hand in hand with Interpol. Like Michael Hayden between NSA and CIA

Re: 41 clubs including 18 Serie A teams raided in Italy
Berlusconi was protecting them before because he's obviously involved and probably leading this nonsense. Since he's gone, "being proven innocent" is not so easy anymore. People aren't afraid to cooperate since the state isn't sponsoring the corruption anymore.
Berlusconi is such a disgrace tbh. He's taken a beautiful country like Italy and done so much harm. Italy deserved better and will get its dignity back. But it needs to clean out all this nonsense once and for all (won't happen, i know... but at least some of it lol).
And btw, i can't believe so many people voted for him AGAIN ffs.

Sports, very very well said. Day in day out I separate my love for MILAN Berlusconi from the Politician Berlusconi yet I cannot muster to hold that line anymore as so corrupt and disgraceful this man is.
The votes? Well sadly in Italia even if you don't vote these Lega Nord/Forza Italia sponsors come to your house and can actually dictate your CIE number and name to transfer the vote WITHOUT you voting.
Most of Italia bar some Northern rich bureaucrats & groups favour Berlusconi yet the truth is he has formed a very efficient system for votes without the votes of the country.
This project was actually given the green light by Mario Monti, you know the guy who displayed how one sane mind in Italia can have it up and going within weeks....until the elections ceased and Berlusconi started to win again
Sad.....

I'm absolutely sure there is tax evasion and money laundering going on in Italian football, but hopefully this will turn out to be a major step in getting rid of it.

There is probably just as much Tax evasion and money laundering in England & Espana. Difference is FIGC has a separate department JUST for keeping tabs and monitoring these instances; which is why you hear of these raids all the time.

Re: 41 clubs including 18 Serie A teams raided in Italy
Roma's headquarters were also raided, but they found nothing and they only requested information related to the Sensi ownership team. sounds to me like they're dotting their Is and crossing their Ts.
Seems less a raid and more a census or audit.

This is nothing new, and for a vast majority of these clubs nothing will happen.
