Se7en wrote:What club is the laughing stock of football in your opinion? Please try to avoid just putting the rival team in there, instead make a post explaining your reasons to why you think so
In my opinion, Newcastle is the laughing stock of football. Why? It's run by egoistical chairmen (ashley and Shepherd), useless managers (Pardew lol, Sounness, Allardyce), history of expensive flops (Owen, Xisco etc) Dalglish tearing up one of the most talented Newcastle squads ever :lol:And Joe Kinnear even being assosciated with the club
So much lol and fails, it's like Newcastle is trying it's best to fail rather than succeed. No offense to Mole, that's just the way I view Newcastle right now.
Souness was just as bad as Dalglish tbh.... took the team that finished 3rd and led it to bottom half
At least Dalglish as much i hate to admit it had some positives.... cup final and some good signings like Solano and Given for example.
No coincidence that the only period of success we have had in last 20 years have been during the Keegan and Robson era's who coincidently are good managers.
Now we have Ashley who has no ambition at all so no manager with any sort of ambition will touch with a 6 ft long wooden stick.
Its a shame because we have enough good players to build a good platform to challenge for trophies and despite popular consensus we do have money ( top 20 in Deloitte list last year) but the management is awful and we continue to make awful decisions but yeah we are the Circus of the football world with Ashley being the ring leader and Pardew, Kinnear etc etc being the clowns.

No, but signing Downing for £20 million is pretty laughableMcAgger wrote:So because our team is backing one of our players in a hard situation, we are the laughing stock of football.

That pic Neil used has nothing to suggest the poor signings we've made. The only thing I'm pointing out tbf

Seven short years ago we were earning 30 million per year more than you.... now you earn 50m more with a smaller stadium and less gate receipts
Just a joke

Why are we so bad? I swear it so embarrassing to watch them. Montreal, Vancouver are all better than us and they just came to the league.

Why Toronto FC? Real Madrid would have been quite high in the laughing stock area (for me) if it weren't for the fact they actually are capable of making obscene amounts of money (to spend happily unwisely).

Re: The laughing stock of football
Roma fan I may be, but I don't agree with seeing Lazio in this thread. Their fans are a disgrace, but nothing new there. The club itself is fine. They just won a Coppa Italia after all so that has to count for something and they are consistently in Europe, while also taking that seriously. Their only problem last season was a lack of depth.
If anything, it should probably be Roma being mentioned more than them. We have very little to show for our new look the past couple of years. The football is fun, we now have bigger deals, lucarative partnerships and better appeal outside of Italy than ever before, but the results on the pitch have left a lot to be desired. I certainly don't think we're a laughing stock, but I'm surprised Roma have not been mentioned more.

Re: The laughing stock of football
The two members of the biggest rivalry in the league DC United and NYRB both deserve lulz right now...DCU because of the club's current standing, NYRB because they're named after an energy drink and have won as many trophies as NYCFC thus far despite the excess of cash they've spent on DPs over the years.

And despite all that you've let Man City, Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham overtake you.

Re: The laughing stock of football
Back on TOPIC, it's definitely Newcastle.
Just because they have a large stadium, they have this illusion that they are a big club, yet their history and trophy cabinet doesn't show a thing that backs it up.
Graham Carr is by far the most over-rated person on earth, whom some believe is the second coming of scouts, whereas not many of his various purchases have been a DEFINITE success.
Mole for example. I used to stalk him on NUFC forums before signing up. At the end of January, he was saying he's positive that with their new bargain French recruits they have a good chance of overtaking Liverpool and securing a top 8 spot
