95 goals in 2011/2012 in just 29 matches..
In this season we can play upto 65 matches " which will be a record"
200 goals anyone:P [note: 158goals is the record of goals in one season, 08/09]
====================
- Xavi scored his 8th goal this season.
- Cesc provided the 9th assist for him this season [ 11goals, 9assists in 15starts, 21matches]
- Tello is the 18th Barca player to score this season.
- FCBarcelona already scored 95goals this season (11/12) & conceded just 16 in 29matches [22W, 6D, 1L], 3 trophies won, still 3 trophies to play for..
- Barca scored 168goals in 2011 [New Spanish Record].

Not really... the reason is clear. Messi has come more central and is dropping deeper in the build up. He is our finisher in the final third, whether this means scoring or putting in a final ball. His role has changed and so naturally Xaviesta's role has changed. You can't have players occupying the same space and doing the same thing.
The stat that is important here is that if you add those numbers together they are very similar. Our production rate hasn't gotten any worse thats for sure.

Re: STATS Thread
I agree, but the same time I think it puts too much pressure on Messi. You can't expect him to carry the team whole season, it takes toll on player, and when the biggest games come at the end he's worn out. There has to be options, other ones who can create goal scoring situations.
I think this confirms the feel I have had, that Xaviesta hasn't been as good as creative side, as couple last seasons.

Re: STATS Thread
Still I don't know if trying as many means they haven't been creative. I think the argument that Messi's taking over their role in the final third more and more still stands. Dropping deeper or their area being more congested just means the through-balls they've tried haven't been more difficult.
Note also that teams have adapted to our play in the Guardiola era. Teams don't play the same against us as they did in 08/09. Its much tighter at the back, more attempts at forming a 'block' in front of the box etc. Its made it much harder to find space an pass into it. The player best at still being able to get away good balls is Messi because of his dribbling. Nobody can create space for a throughball like him.
On the passing ability alone, its still Xavi for me. Iniesta has never played loads of throughballs. Messi is able to play more because of what I said above.
I completely agree with you though. I think under Pep, we've become increasingly reliant on Messi. Its a good thing and a bad thing. Good because the more we centre our game around him, the more we can get from the world's best player. Bad because if we don't have Messi, or he isn't on song like against Chelsea... we suffer horribly. I hope Tito finds a way to get the best out of him without making us too reliant on him.

That stat makes sense given the amount of time Xavi spent injured/recovering from injury this season, does it not? I wouldn't read much else into it.
