‘Juve right to want Ogbonna’
Moreno Torricelli believes former club Juventus would be making no mistake if they sign Angelo Ogbonna from city rivals Torino.
The two clubs are in talks for the 24-year-old defender who is valued at around the €13m figure by the Granata.
“He would be a very interesting signing,” Torricelli, who spent six seasons in Turin before his 1998 switch to Fiorentina, told TMW.
“He’s a lad who is doing well for Torino and the Italian national side. The fact that he was in the Giro Azzurro while in Serie B underlines his worth.
“Confronting himself on a daily basis in training with Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini will certainly see him improve.”
Torricelli also believes that the centre-back is versatile enough to play in all three roles in Juve’s back-three.
“As he is a left-footer then Chiellini’s position would be his most natural, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t be used elsewhere.”
The 43-year-old also insisted that the Old Lady faithful would welcome him with open arms. “There will be no problems from Juventus.
“Perhaps there may be a few issues with the Torino fans seeing as Ogbonna was a kind of flag-bearer for this new Toro.”
