Re: The TV Series Thread
Neal, I personally stopped watching "Weeds" after season 3 - the show was never very authentic and became quite ridiculous in my opinion. Keep in mind that I have some experience (directly or indirectly, I will not confirm which) with the business and have friends who felt the exact same way. So it is understandable to me why we might have gotten different experiences out of it. Nancy's characters is one that really turned me off to the show and I really disliked what they did with her character. Season 1 was the best (in my opinion) and I thought that losing Conrad was a very big loss for the show.

Psych Watched 7 more eps. The show is sooo good, once I start I cannot stop watching. I have Spring Break next week, planning on catching up to whatever season it is now.

Actually just finished Merlin and I'm quite surprised I never really seemed to have an interest in it all these years. Brilliant series. The end threw me off a tad bit though.

In my opinion, the first season is the second worst after the 6th.So I think you're just getting started.

Yes: McLewis and myself are big fans. I have yet to see last nights episode (had indoor footy playoffs yesterday).

Add "Murder She Wrote" to that list. Absolutely riveting stuff. It's got ninjas, dolphins, ninja dolphins, and an old lady, murdering them with pens. I'm not making this up.
Also, agree with Dom. Weeds took a serious dip in quality, real fast. I only kept watching it as a filler show, ones that I would watch while I eat. Andy and Doug kept it interesting with their comic relief, and Nancy, although I hated her, held some kinda sexual appeal I could never shake off. Shane wasn't bad either, especially since we could witness his evolution into a sociopath. So yeah..I'll probably still watch it whenever I have absolutely nothing else. But I'm glad it's done.
Anyone watch The Following yet ? Kevin fookin Bacon as a serial killer who also happens to lead a cult ? Now that's a tight casting call. I'm waiting for the season to conclude, so I can dive into it headlong.

You know what? I can actually agree with most of that. I've never really known anyone in the business myself so I can't speak to its authenticity, but as a pure dramedy, I loved it honestly. I was honestly not a huge fan of Nancy, but I understand why they did her character that way. If anything, Shane was my favorite character. That kid seriously grew up. A little sad how he turned out though.

Yeah I've been watching it. It's frankly a little over the top, if I'm honest.
The casting of James Purefoy as the killer and Kevin Bacon as the FBI agent is great though. Love their dynamic and their scenes have been awesome. The rest of the show though.....it just makes me wonder about its longevity. There's only so many ways a guy like Purefoy's character can continue to elude the FBI, of all bureaus. Apparently it's already renewed for a 2nd season so yeah.

Re: The TV Series Thread
So does Justified get better? I started watching it when it barely came out. Although I liked it quite enough, the show seemed to be very slow paced which I didn't like. Has it gotten better?

I love both Homeland and Justified. But I should mention that I loved Justified off that bat and I should also mention that Arquitecto despises "Homeland"

Re: The TV Series Thread
I personally fell in love with Homeland right away. Brilliant show with brilliant actors. Justified pilot episode was intriguing but I lost interest as the pace slowed down.

I am personally a huge fan of the character Rayland Givens. While I cannot remember season 1 that well, I do not recall feeling it being slow (I will never forget the first scene though).

Re: The TV Series Thread
Justified has gotten much better, Messiah.
Most of the seasons are more of a slow burn than just a bunch of filler episodes before a big finale.

Re: The TV Series Thread
if I recall the first season or maybe even the first two, there were "bad guy of the week" type episodes in Justified, which I'm never a fan of, interspersed with episodes tying the main story together, but Rayland & Boyd kept me watching
The past few seasons they've pretty much done away with those filler episodes, or had them tie into the main story in some way. Either way it improves leaps and bounds over the first season. Season 2, 3 and 4 are all great. 1 was good, IMO.
Also, I LOVE this Colt guy. I hope he makes it into next season, but I have my doubts

I guess it's best to watch a series from the start in order to understand it better.

Re: The TV Series Thread
RG
Began watching the History Channel's 2 new series - The Bible & Vikings.
Being that I'm a non-believer, the Bible interests me from a dramatic and historical level. It's not all that bad honestly. Plays out like a documentary with a script basically. Love that they went with lesser known actors and actresses so not to draw attention away from the stories and I think that's been done quite well. I can't really say the acting is good or bad really because they're practically acting from one of the oldest scripts in history
Based on the first 3 episodes, Vikings looks great honestly. The title character Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) looks and acts just Charlie Hunham's Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy. Kathryn Winnick is sexy as hell as his wife and a shieldmaiden and I'm not really liking Gabriel Byrne as the Jarl. They could've picked a less esteemed actor for that role honestly.

Re: The TV Series Thread
JUSTIFIED I started yesterday and already on season 2 Raylan Givens Ava and Winona Boyd Crowder Dewey Crowe
Awesome show, I got used to the pace, the pilot was GOAT but then the next couple of episode were kind of slow until you really got to know all the characters and what not.

I didn't think every season in a series had to be related.

This season of Justified has been allot better than previous seasons IMO
I still say people need to watch Banshee. The final episode of the season was on during the weekend and it was pretty epic.
