Re: Rafa Benitez the new manager of Napoli
Still, Napoli's recent form isn't enough to convince me that they'll finish 2nd. 2 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats in the last 6 isn't going to cut it, potentially 10 points behind tomorrow. Juve and Roma will have the top 2 spots on lockdown. Napoli will settle for 3rd imo.

Re: Rafa Benitez the new manager of Napoli
If we keep drawing matches, Napoli might just eat away at the lead we have on them, even with a record like 2-2-2.
Need to win against Catania tomorrow.

As soon as Hamsik returns Napoli will be a different team. The amount of times that Pipita and Insigne gave Pandev a great pass only for him to mess it up is over 9000.

Re: Rafa Benitez the new manager of Napoli
Its quite clear they wont be able to make wholesale changes as they dont have financial capabilities to do so but 2 or 3 additions could prove vital for their title charge just like how 2-3 players made a big difference to this Roma side as a whole.
So, i would say a DM,a quality CB and a decent backup to Higuain or get someone who can reduce the goal-scoring burden off him.I would say these are three things they should primarily be focusing on in the summer mercato.

DM, CM, LW, RB and AM
if they get Gonalons, Arbeloa, CM, Lavezzi/Griezmann and a really good AM they will be set for next season

Re: Rafa Benitez the new manager of Napoli
They need a whole new defence, they need a DM and an attacking player or two
AND, that's just to have a starting XI good enough
Apart from Juve, the teams have such a massive drop in quality with their depth
They'd realistically need 4 or 5 new bench players, along with those.

At least a CB, fallback 9, CM, DM, LB and a new GK since Reina is leaving. Not sure where they will get the money from it as they're not likely to sell any of their high profile players.

I think this was Napolis best chance tbh, unless they get an unexpected cash injection
but it's gonna have to be a big one. I can see Higuain leaving not this Summer but Next.

Callejon's one of those where you can't quite work out what he does, but 10 goals in his first season in Italy suggests he's good at it.
About sums it up, really.

They need Mascherano and Song for € 50 million combined. Then they can win Serie zzZzZzzz.

So long as they stay in the CL I can't. He loves Naples and Neapolitans love him.Tomwin Lannister wrote:but it's gonna have to be a big one. I can see Higuain leaving not this Summer but Next.

Re: Rafa Benitez the new manager of Napoli
If he cements his claim as being a World Class striker next season, and Napoli still look to be a long ways off for competing for silverware outside of the coppa, I can't see him turning down one of the various rich clubs who will inevitably target him
As for Napoli themselves, they would demand a big fee, but there will be a price along with 2 or 3 clubs who would be willing to match it.

You won't get a big fee for Higuain though unless he manages to do a Cavani in Napoli.

Yeah, same here. They were able to bring in a bunch of nice players for this season with the Cavani cash, but that's all spent now. Even if they make the CL, I don't see the club net-spending tens of millions in the summer.
However, Benitez has good contacts and might be able to bring in a couple of decent guys in on loan, which would obviously lessen the need to spend big.
