Chelsea should offer a deal to Benitez
Never seen a coach working in such terrible conditions, with everyone asking for another coach, but in 4-5 months managing a club over so many games, going deep everywhere and winning an european cup.
it wont happen, but it would have been the smart decision. Benitez, when he is allowed to do his work, brings trophies (not to mention that terry couldnt control him like Di Matteo). Give him the money and freedom to sign players, and he will build a great side that wins competitions.
Mou is a clown that makes it all about himself and will be gone in two years, 3 max i promise you that. good luck chelsea, you will miss those two years

Re: Chelsea should offer a deal to Benitez
I think they should. I think Mou would be a little bit of an upgrade, but not enough to warrant the circus he would bring.
While rafa isn't nearly the distraction he is, the fans not being behind him whether its fair or not is a legitimate problem.
If I was Roman I'd resign Rafa and do some sort of PR video backing him and telling the fans to get off his back or something. Pay drogba to take a picture with him shaking hands lol..

Re: Chelsea should offer a deal to Benitez
Completely agree, but it won't happen because Chelsea fans are ungrateful, spoilt c*nt bags.( not the ones on here ur aight )
He's a fantastic manager and i would kill to have someone who is 1/20th as good as him.
I don't think its even a certainty that Mourinho will do a better job, for one thing Rafa has already won more European trophies in 6 months than Mou did in 3 years.

Completely agree with Pimp Mole
Rafa could have walked out after the abuse he got from chelsea fans every week. But he stayed and gave his all. Comfortably got Chelsea in the top 4. Won the EL. All in difficult times.

Rafa deserves more than those blue c*nts I hope he takes over at Schalke and makes them a power house. Or Newcastle. Or Monaco. Or back to Valencia.

No, he has only done well due to the players, he has not made them play better, he has not made game changing subs, he has not tactically outsmarted the other teams often, our team never played nice football under him and he should not be offered a contract because that would be the biggest insult to the fans, who ae the people the club should be looking after.
A manager of a club at our level, he was expected to do better. He didn't.

Re: Chelsea should offer a deal to Benitez
He won the Europa League, not the CL. The CL is what really counts for a top club like Chelsea. Plus he didn't qualify for the last 16 of the CL.
I doubt Chelsea would have even cared if they got knocked out in the semis or something.

Like i said ungrateful and spoilt.

Ehhhh, he played 1 game in CL, won 6-1 but they went out anyway because Juve beat Shaktar.
RDM f***** up the CL this season by playing 10 defenders against Juve in Turin, now you can hardly blame Rafa for that can you?

What else would you have liked him to do better?
He should get a full season and make some of his own transfers before there can be any real disappointment imo.. Especially considering the conditions he had to work under

Champions league football is expected, Rafa barely made that. From 4 points behind united, to where we are now? Yeah, great work there Rafa.
Did Rafa win us the EL today? Hardly, we were lucky to win. He didn't make changes when he perhaps should have, he didn't change the tactics at half time and in the end, it was a Torres goal which was a mistake from Benfica and a corner which won us the game. Neither tactical moves.
We had an easy run to the final as well which we hardly made it through each round.
Great work Rafa.

Re: Chelsea should offer a deal to Benitez
I don't mind him that much these days, still pisses me off occasionally but I've never hated him in the first place just some dislike and I suppose that's gone now.
Still don't want him to manage us long term though, thanks Rafa for doing what you came to accomplish and win win for both as it looks good on your CV too.

That's a bit unfair, winning the Europa League is completely different from winning the CL.
Having said that, I agree that Benitez deserves more time. He did what was required under an hostile environment, and should stay (at least) another year.

You were lucky to win the CL last season as well, but Di Matteo was praised like Saachi. Despite taking Chelsea to 6th in the league

Re: Chelsea should offer a deal to Benitez
Rafa would be mad to accept a permanent deal with Chelsea precisely because it would be anything but. Chelsea fans would never fully accept or support him (as evidenced here, already) and at the first sign of any sort of rough patch they'd be on his back again and the press would certainly follow. Given Roman's itchy trigger finger that's all that it would take to see Rafa out of a job again, and probably undo all of the good this season has done for his managerial reputation.

Re: Chelsea should offer a deal to Benitez
Also the players thing is a bunch of horse crap....
We have some great players but we are a shite side because the manager is clueless and restricts them.
Rafa already has more European trophies than Fergie did in his whole Man Utd tenure ffs.
The man is clearly quality.
I can't wait for next season when Chelsea are trophy less and they are chanting Mourinho's name

Chelsea should offer him a new contract... and he should reject it. How he puts up with this amount of ungratefulness I don't know.

Are Chelsea fan so f*cking delusional?? Do you really think Di Matteo or anyone else would've won you the league this season or even stayed 4pts behind United with that team you have?? This United team would've stream rolled the league no matter who your manager would've been.

Rafa won the EL with a better team than RDM. CL>EL by far.
RDM also played better football outside of CL than Rafa ever has. Dare I say it, RDM was better tactically than Rafa was.

Exactly City were close at that point and look what happened to them Chelsea would have fallen away regardless.

Re: Chelsea should offer a deal to Benitez
We dropped so many points against weaker teams because of Rafa not getting the tactics right, had he done so, we'd be in a much better position and probably in second too.
Yeah becasue City have done well this year. they have been as poor as us at times.

No.
A great man with so much dignity like Rafa shouldn't be associated with a horrible vile club like Chelsea.
