How do you save Argentina? Empty How do you save Argentina?

Post by BarrileteCosmico Thu Jul 07, 2011 4:14 am

Sergio Batista claimed that if against Colombia the play didn't improve then he'll make changes to the squad. He has just hired YOU as a new assistant to help out in this transition. You are in charge of making reasonable (Batista is not going to drop the whole system now), possible (only within the 23 man squad) and practical solutions to the problem of how Argentina is playing.

One of Batista's promises coming in was to make Messi shine, which so far he has only been able to do in friendlies, so keep this in mind. Also keep in mind that Batista only has 5 days to make and implement these changes so there won't be any chances to practice.

So far Batista has shown a willingness to work with a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1.

What do YOU suggest?

Try to justify your suggestions rather than just posting them.

my first step is to tie Batista up and lock him in a closet so I have full control of the team, then:

zabaleta pareja garay zanetti

In my opinion playing both Cambiasso and Mascherano is unnecessay, especially when you're going up against opposition you're expected to beat. Neither are great passers and they don't posess great movement off the ball. It's putting too much pressure on Banega to create and support the attack, which isn't his natural game.

4-2-3-1 might be a better option, with Banega playing alongside one of Cambiasso or Mascherano in the double pivot.

The three ahead of them should all be quick, creative players. Di Maria, Messi and one of Aguero or Pastore would do nicely. The three can interchange throughout the match.

This can be supplemented by Carlos Tevez up front.

So altogether:

Romero

Zabaleta --- Garay --- Milito --- Zanetti

Mascherano --- Banega

Pastore --- Messi --- Di Maria

Tevez

If you need to change it, you've got Aguero and Higuain on the bench.

Don't worry about higgy, if used right he will get a lucky bounce to him and nail it into the goal.

Yeah, Di Maria and Higuain need to play together, and Milito has to go bury his little slimeface in the ground and make way for Garay.

Btw, there was no deliberate picking of just (sort of former) Madrid players; I'd
send Gago in the first plane home.

Huh? Higgy was injured for the majority of the season, I don't think him and Di Maria have that much of a great chemistry plus Higgy still looks sluggish.

I still wouldnt play him, Aguero is in much better form right now, and makes some pretty fierce runs behind the defense.

If this team wants to play to there fullest Messi has to start look like he is integrated into the system and I believe this is the lineup that best works for him. Pastore and Messi can do all the dribbling they like, don't need a next one like aguero.

aguero doesnt play anything like messi or pastore, he is very much a #9. Higuain is diminished atm, there would be argument if he wasnt, but now it looks straight forward to me.

Considering how he wants to play a Barcelona system, the best formation is 4-3-3.

He will have to trust his defenders a little more and play only 1 DM. My formation is

romero
zabaleta--garay-milito--zanetti
--cambiasso--
--Banega-------Pastore--
lavezzi--------------------Di Maria
Messi

Messi playing as false nine which i think is his best position. The players should be specifically instructed to play around Messi with both wingers making inside runs and the fullbacks overlapping them.

This is easy, I would actually bench Messi if I notice hes not performing and I would play Pastore

Then I Start Higuain and Kun Aguero together, because Tevez only plays to full potential as a lone ST

Also I would really consider replacing Milito, as hes committed countless errors

----------------------------------Romero------------------------------
Zabaleta-----------Burdisso-------------Garay-----------Zanetti
-----------------------Banega-------------Masch-------------------
---------------Messi----------------------------DiMaria--------------
------------------------Higuain----------Kun-------------------------

Subs: Pastore(or Cambiasso depending on situation), Lavezzi, Tevez
