Re: AS Monaco superteam
Iceland are not part of EU but they got a European bail out when their bank collapsed in 2009.
If Monaco are part of EEA then this freedom of movement still applies (I don't know wether they are tho)

First, this thing should be forbidden. It is already in France but I don't understand how players rights could be owned by third parties who has nothing to do with football. You have a contract with a club to play there and that's all.
Second, Falcao is the one deciding ultimately if he wants or not, he isn't a slave, he is the one signing the contract. He could have stayed easily at Athletico instead of going to Monaco.

Monaco is not part of that neither. They are just a sovereign state using euro and having some treaties. Freedom of movement for people don't apply to them.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
Sorry OL, your hate is blinding you again. Monaco, Andorra, the Vatican and San Marino are the 4 micro-states that have been accorded similar rights as members and allowed the use of the Euro while maintaining their independence. The EU allowed Monaco this status in its decision to recognize the bilateral agreement between France and Monaco as applicable across the EU member states in 1998.
In exchange for the benefits of its status, Monaco charges the standard EU TVA tax and shares it with the EU.

Still they are not member of EU and freedom of movement for the person don't apply to them.
And even with that, the french league doesn't have to accept romanian, bulgarian and Monaco clubs in the french league.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
ok... let's agree to disagree.
Monaco is already part of the French league and has been for decades. These tax benefits are nothing new... they've always been there. For them to kick Monaco out, they would need to show new circumstances that would justify such action. Nothing has changed with Monaco's status.
Monaco is not asking to become part of the league. They already are part of it and have been since 1948 and have always had these fiscal benefits.
No case. None.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
Radamel Falcao has edged closer to completing a €60m transfer from Atletico Madrid to Monaco after reportedly passing a medical today.
The Colombian is understood to have flown out to the Principality this week to negotiate the terms of a possible transfer and to have a medical, after Monaco reportedly met the player’s buyout clause in his Atleti contract.
Reports today have it that the 27-year-old has now moved closer to completing the move, believing that he has passed a medical held on Tuesday morning.
It is understood that Falcao will shortly put pen to paper on a five-year contract worth a reported €10m a season.
Reports also have it that the player’s contract will include another €60m buyout clause that can be activated next summer, to allow Falcao to leave if an offer from Real Madrid or a Premier League side materialises.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
LOL @ all the EPL fans on here getting tetchy about Monaco spending money from a sugar daddy. Maybe you should care to look at how Man City & Chelsea got where they are today perhaps?
Anyway I watch all leagues round Europe so would prefer these guys move to other leagues than Man U or some team in England, other than Liverpool of course.

I dislike City and Chelsea's stance on transfers but I think part of the people who would rather see him in EPL rather than Ligue 1 is due to the fact that we won't get to watch a class player like him if he joined the mediocre French league while in EPL you'd watch him week in week out.

He has a lot of experience. Could be a tutor for the other younger devenders and provide some depth when needed if he wont be starting.
