AS Monaco superteam
There are no Monaco fans on this forum (for now), but what they are doing on the market is going to gather steam very quickly. I think they deserve their own thread.
For those who arent aware yet, Monaco is the announced yang to PSG's yin. Another team owned by a russion billionaire (and prince of monaco), so massive funds behind them, and no tax in Monaco
So far, their biggest coup on the market is announced to be Falcao, with whom they are said to have agreed everything. 60 millions deal, around 10 mil wages (less maybe), and as of yesterday, i heard he signed a pre-contract with no Madrid clause
Now they are moving on to Tevez. Deal has been agreed reportedly, 10 mil yearly and a fee needs to be agreed for a move now.
They are working on other players as well:
GK: Ruffier is their top target, Valdes has been mentioned
LB: Evra (former monaco player), Clichy
CB: Nkoulou (former Monaco player), Chedjou, Ismait-Mirin, Sakho
RB: Debuchy
CM: Lampard, Moutinho, Cabaye, Park Chu young
FW: Menez, Lisandro
Ligue 1 is gonna be fun next year

Ruffier is a Monaco youth product... they're fixated on him, not Valdes. Also put Mandanda in there.

Ah Monaco, the club that trolled Real Madrid in 2004
I only recognised a handful of names in that list, but thats still impressive for a newly promoted squad.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
I was talking about the players on your list didn't include Falcao....
Yes Moutinho is the only CL standard player there, the rest are either EL standard or best or old and soon to be past it like Lamps.

Hulk in there too.
Mole, you're wrong. The keepers are all extremely good. Nkoulou was the best CB in France this year after Silva.... i watch him every game. He's become extremely good and i wasn't a fan. Moutinho definitely is CL quality, as are Falcao and Tevez.
Sakho showed in CL and with France NT that he easily belonged too.
You're not going to have WC players everywhere. Best case, you want your spinal cord to be your top players.... Namely, a keeper, a CB, a CM, a AM and a CF. Ruffier, Sakho/Nkoulou, Cabaye/Moutinho, Falcao/Tevez is pretty darn good.
Evra, Clichy, Lampard provide the experience you need.
Etc.

so you say, but they are still very good, and it's just the beginning. PSG only had Ibra and Thiago who were up to standard (altho Ibra is shit in europe) at the beginning of the season. but they will grow and some players will become legit like Matuidi. they are in year 1, dont forget it, not even in CL yet. if they gain credibility this season, their current crop will not only improve but they will attract other good players.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
they already have Ocampos too. If they get kids like Isimat-Mirin and Aubameyang (who is rumored too), then you have something to really build on. Corchia is targeted as well and Guilavogui.
They have to build a team from scratch because, other than Carrasco and Ocampos, none of the current roster is Ligue 1 quality. They're buying 15-20 players this summer lol.

These are rumours for now anyway i will be surprised if even 5% of these come to pass.
Need to remember the rumours when PSG were bought out, none of them happened.
Same with City etc etc.

Re: AS Monaco superteam
I think this thread falls under the "I'll believe it when I see it" category. So far it seems like media speculation. Everything about this club (buying a club in a tax-haven, in 2nd division, buying young promises) tells me they are rather patient and I doubt we'll see them splash cash senselessly.
Mole I assume the objective is not to win the league but to reach the CL spots, for the first season, and they definitely could with that squad.
Also, Tevez not being CL quality

Rome wasn't built in a day.
I hope Monaco goes about it sensibly, instead of getting mired in the FFP bog.

The same Tevez who hasn't scored in the CL since 2009? the same Tevez who has 6 goals in 33 CL games? The same Tevez who has 0 goals in 12 CL appearances for Man City?
That Tevez?

Re: AS Monaco superteam
I don't really fault him for his bad CL stats, I mean, he was played as a fcking RW by Ferguson in the CL and of the 5 CL matches he played this season he was subbed out twice and subbed in once, no continuity. I hate it when people talk about scoring in the CL as if it's some entirely different animal than scoring anywhere else. Tevez has scored in Argentina, in Brazil, in England, in the WC. Granted he's not the most prolific goalscorer but that's not all he does is it? He's an SS and consequently also has creative responsibilities and has a fair number of assists in his time at the EPL to show for it.

Yeah but he doesn't though.... as i said he's overrated and meh.
Works hard and scores a goal now and again but that is it not really CL quality, the Jonas of CFs.
He had a good run a couple of years back but other than that his goal return is very average and he doesn't create much either.
What does he actually do consistently other than work hard? his goal return through out his career isn't that good apart from a couple of exceptions and he doesn't really create anything.
A CF who doesn't score consistently and a SS who doesn't create is CL level

Re: AS Monaco superteam
dont monaco owe 200 million to french authorities
it would be so harsh if ranieri, who got them promoted was then sacked . they should give him a chance to prove himself

Lisandro? As in Lisandro Lopez?
