Well, Papa had a ruptured ankle ligament in February 2011 and the current knee problem has him out since November 2012. So that knee injury is a bit more niggling and serious (he had to have surgery and is in rehab now).

AFAIK he has a release clause of 22 mio Euros, so I doubt that Schalke will let him go for 17 mio Euros.

17m is way too much, let alone 22m. Although I would like him at the club. He's a warrior. The type we need at the moment.

Well, Schalke need him too, especially if they qualify for the CL again (they just need to win the next match against Freiburg, then they are set).

thing is...if he is fit, he can play DM too. He really fits the criteria of back up DM and a physical good in the air CB we need, plus he is young and can improve even more.

Injuries though, are a concern. but Coutinho and Sturridge were also injury-prone before we bought them, our new medical staff are doing wonders with injuries (agger, and gerrard fit all season, coutinho n sturridge no real injuries) banana

Not really concerned about his injuries. Just I feel like for 17m we could do better. Alderweireled is another brilliant option who seems to be in love with LFC and would be cheaper.

Schalke should cash in, Matip and Höwedes are both better than Papa - plus Santana is coming as 3rd choice.

I feel like we need a dirty beast like Papa/Wanyama/etc in order to win games against thugs like Everton and Stoke. A bullying, beastly CB, as opposed to another nice ball playing type we already have in Agger.

Dunno. Joel Matip was rather disappointing in the last matches. I'd prefer to keep Papa.

Well Skrtel is that sort of CB, only it's not working well for him, is it?? Rodgers seems to be in love with CBs with Agger-esque qualities but we'll see,. I personally prefer Alderweireled or Howedes over anyone else in our price range.

Only one i'm not excited about is Valdes. But there's worse. I'm sure he didn't cost much.

Whatever it be true or not, Barcelona is gonna have to choose between Fab or Thiago. This rotation thing wouldn't cut it for either player. And truthfully speaking, Fab is the more experienced (and some would say, better) footballer and cost 40 million euros. Tito would most likely favour Fab than young Thiago.
