Making some good signings finally... Now for some forwards.
Grant - Griffiths - Boss - Fabio
New DM - Antonis
Emerton - Carle - Abbas/Chianese
New Striker
not bad
Sydney FC using Emerton is a winger is just as bad as when Ranieri used Lampard as winger, seriously why spend all that money to bring out such a good player and stick him out of postion, forget then new DM, buy a new winger
Would you use him as a CM? I would like to do that too actually. The only thing is I'm not sure if a combination of Emmo and Antonis is strong enough defensively... Maybe we can buy a DM and rotate these guys. Anyway... we're keeping McFlynn again and it looks like we probably won't buy another midfielder. Griffiths could play there, but I think he'll start at CB.
We've now signed some washed up old Croat striker... he better be good... He reminds me of the Cazarine and Makela signings...

He's said Adelaide didn't offer him a contract, which he was upset about. So I guess he then just chose whoever he wanted (money).

Sydney have signed two forwards.
32 year-old Croatian Krunoslav Lovrek-- a tall number 9, and 22 year-old Panama international Yairo Yau--a pacey player who generally plays as an inside forward.
Meanwhile, Socceroo Matt Spiranovic has signed for Qatar SC.

Everton have agreed with Major League Soccer (MLS) that Tim Cahill can be transferred to the New York Red Bulls.
Tim, 32, will move to the Red Bulls for a nominal fee, subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. He will travel to the US in the next few days.
He has played 278 times for Everton since his move from Millwall in 2004, scoring 68 goals. An Australian international with 55 caps, Tim has scored 24 times for his country.

Sad to see him leave the PL although you could see last season that his best days were beyond him, regardless he was a great player and im sure he'll be remembered at Everton.
The Cahill/Henry combination has some GOAT potetnial too

Everton have announced Tim Cahill will leave for NY Red Bulls.
Henry x Cahill combo But I still don't like him moving there. Big European league or A League for our players... thats what I want.

Melbourne Heart FC confirms defender Curtis Good will travel to England later this evening for a medical with Premier League giants Newcastle United.
Arriving at Heart from the Australian Institute of Sport, Good, 19, made an immediate and substantial impression during his debut season, registering 25 first team appearances as part of a team which reached the Hyundai A-League Finals Series.
Head Coach John Aloisi said Good’s planned move provides evidence of the strength of the development pathway present at Heart.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Curtis. Newcastle United is one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom, and we are absolutely delighted he has the opportunity to test his wares on such a stage,” Aloisi said.
“While Curtis will certainly be missed, his proposed transfer is a great affirmation of our youth policy, and a demonstration of the Club’s ability to assist in developing players to such an extent that they’re able to move to one of Europe’s leading competitions.
“We wish Curtis well and hope he will one day return to don the red and white stripes of our Club.”
Boasting a pre-stated desire to provide a platform for emerging talent to earn a transfer to the bright lights of Europe, Chief Executive Officer Scott Munn said Good’s journey placed the Club on the precipice of fulfilling one of its founding tenets.
“When we formed this club, it was always our goal to nurture a young talent and take him to one of the biggest clubs, in one of the biggest leagues in the world,” Munn said.
“To be on the verge of having achieved this ambition within two years is a substantial achievement and one which we hope to be replicated many times again in the future.”

Great to see players from the A-league get some recognition in the last couple of years. Likes of Imini (think thats his name, or it's Ibini - WELL ONE OF EM) and Curtis Good makes the future looking bright for the A-league in the near future. Hopefully they can cut it in Europe also!
Oh, and can't help but thank Kewell and Emerton who helped get some recognition. Emerton was linked to a few PL clubs but decided to come home.

Good has signed a 6 year deal with Newcastle United. Big move and a 6 year contract shows huge confidence. Any of you Heart fans got a word on him? I don't really remember him much.

Re: Aussie Transfers Thread
I just spoke to a friend who plays for Melbourne Heart about this lad.
He says they're struggling to replace him properly. A tall, strong and quick left-footed centre back. Quiet and modest personality, but someone who will be a good asset for a Premier League club. He "loves to play it out from the back and doesn't do long balls", very confident in the air and always wants to win.
Sounds like your typical description, but this friend of mine is a very honest guy, slated some players down there when I asked about them so I don't think he's making anything up. Like the part about him "not doing long balls".
Sounds like a good signing. He also confirmed that he has left for Newcastle.
From Newcastle forum, sounds a lot like Coloccini but quick and good in the air
He definitely sounds promising and i heard you have been taking a dutch like approach to your youth, Maybe Good will be one of the first player's to come through this system.
He probably wont be in the first team at first, but a 6 year contract implies we have confidence in him to succeed so hopefully he breaks into the first team before too long.
Funny an English guy is giving information on Aussie defenders in the Aussie section.

Today, Mathew Leckie was subbed in in the 58th minute in the match FSV Frankfurt vs Hertha BSC (at 1:1) and scored the 2:1 only five minutes later. One more goal in injury time by another player saw the match end with a 3:1 win for FSV Frankfurt. Nice impact sub today!

Terrible Transfer. At 37, he will be rubbish. Yes we get a legend though he won't be great imo.
