Re: The Bundesliga Thread
I remember seeing him recently playing for the Frankurt team against Hannover (not sure) he had come as a substitute. It was very late in the game, so not enough to judge anything about his performance.
I had never heard about him before, just asked a local coach here out of curiosity and he said the player is very talented but nothing specific about his abilities.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Well, Kempf does seem very talented and has been shining for the 2nd team, but has very, very limited experience in 1st team football, so very much a diamond in the rough. This goes double for defenders, as well all know, who rely on experience a lot.
He is very agile, and has good positioning already, though, so there is obvious potential, I'm not surprised a bigger club is after him, though I'm surprised it's as big as Juve.

where do we have "infrastructure and opportunities"? the club is a wreck and if HSV+ doesn't get voted through we are doomed for years.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
on another note, jens keller deserves all the criticism he is getting. the man is a bloated baboon with a rhetoric that makes u wanna throw the tv out of the window - "der beste wo gibt". on top of that he copied his stupid facial expression from, out of all people, michael skibbe. the simple fact that he is a bundesliga coach is a disgrace for sports as a whole..
just read that as well, never heard of him tbh. supposetly he is a huge talent and then got injured after he went to juve right?

On the other hand his teammate Kempf, has turned down Juventus for the second time. The center back wants to remain in Germany rather than not finding much space at Juve or playing for their Primavera team. Juventus is shopping in Germany.
Ok so,can Germans tell us more about Trapp ? Legit GK ? How good(talented) is he ?

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
but I think with great potential and mentoring from Buffon is exactly what he needs probably, he could come as top class WC...worth investing imo. In fact Borussia were looking for him as a successor to Ter Stegen if rumours are to be believedBAYERN_MUNICH wrote:Good but not as good as Leno or terStegen

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Well, Kevin Trapp has been called up as GK for the German U21 NT several times for a reason. He is pretty reliable and was also thrown into the pot as possible new Nr.1 for both Schalke 04 and Borussia M'gladbach, although Trapp denied any intention to move to BMG at least.
As for a move to Juve - while it is a very interesting destination, I doubt that Trapp would want to transfer to a club where he'd spend at least one year on the bench. Mind you, he turned down Bayern München, too, when they tried to get him as their Nr.2 GK.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
But I think it would be a different case at Juve compared to Bayern, considering they want to phase out Buffon slowly. Buffon I guess is 35 now so he can go there in the summer or probably next summer

He'll be 36 in a week's time and has a contract expiring in 2015.All depends on how long he carries on in the end.
Mind you these rumors are only coming from Di Marzio.I dont think any German sources have picked up this news yet.

no they haven't any i don't think it's an option for him to get 1-2 years of "mentoring session" with an uncertain future still. nothing mentors you more than the actual game and competing out there

Not any worse than Leno or ter Stegen, actually coming off a better season than ter Stegen.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
looks like HSV+ is gonna pull through today, 87% voted against discussing other random stuff first at the meeting so there might not be enough time to vote at the end. that was the initial plan of the "oppposition" or rather st.pauliesque pretender anticommercial segment.

Wow,thats certainly good to hear.
Thanks for the opinions guys.Germany's keeper depth is simply insane.
I wonder if Trapp has any chance to make the WC squad ?

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
That's very unlikely as there are several other keepers that Löw would call up before him: Manuel Neuer, René Adler, Ron-Robert Zieler, Marc-André ter Stegen, probably even Roman Weidenfeller. Mind you, with Löw that is not necessarily a quality judgement; the only keeper who is really sure of his place is Manuel Neuer.S wrote:I wonder if Trapp has any chance to make the WC squad ?
AFAIK Kevin Trapp is still listed with the U21, although there he faces strong competition with Marc-André ter Stegen, Bernd Leno and Oliver Baumann, too.

Why does Germany produce so many great goalkeepers? Is it a more prestigious position in Germany?

well, it's probably a combination of things. without going into too much detail i'd say the following are part of it:
a) the history with great german keepers like Maier, Schumacher, Illgner, Köpke, Kahn etc. sure makes goal keeper an appealing position for youngsters. therefore it is also easier to sustain such a legacy.
b) many of these former greats go on to teach young german keepers in the academies and therefore pass their wealth of knowledge on.
c) physical attributes. germans are relatively tall people and this comes in handy when you're a goalkeeper of course.
