Not rocket science to see who's #winning here.
We pocketed a hefty bit from selling a crocked 29 year old. This time next year, he'll be 5 months shy of his 31st birthday and falling into the Giggs role of playing every now and again. And that's assuming he doesn't suffer a career ending injury between now and then Smile

Laughing

I can picture you with ur rvp voodoo doll wishing for his demise. Ain't gonna happen lexinator. League medal this season, maybe the cl or fa cup next season. It annoys that he is alreadya success at utd, and the fact he jumped ship as soon as his injury woes were a thing of the past Laughing

I think we can get a good 3/4 years outta him. The priceless goals he bailed us out with this season has more than just recupperated that 24 mill we gave arsenal.

Are you going to deny that the red card wasn't the X-factor ?

Fergie should have called Moyes to ask him how to handle being a man down Proud

Anyways as for RVP the guy has never been there in the most crucial stage be it for Holland, Arsenal or United but luckily United don't rely on him for goals so they can cope. he will be 30 in augus tho :/

What are you on about? He's only ever flopped for the Netherlands. He's always been a good player for each of his respected clubs. Also, United relied on him at the start of the season where he single-handedly carried United to a 15 point gap difference before Fergie decided to rotate his team on a regular basis.

what am I on about??

being good when it matters is something he lacks. There is a reason Arsenal lost against Birmingham City FC in the final of Carling cup and all the other knockout games for Arsenal. Now for United he singlehandedly lost them both ties vs Chelsra and Madrid with his 7 yard misses. You can't rely on this big game flop for goals. he was good for half a season what about the other half?? lets not forget City weren't far off then

How can you honestly blame RvP solely because they didn't get the result against Birmingham? Lol...

He also carried the whole team for the whole of last season and was the reason they made the CL.

He was better than good for the first six months of this season. He's basically won them the league in those six months!

Actually, a Koscielny header vs WBA was the reason we made the CL. But don't let facts get in the way of a good urban legend :coffee:

So without RvP's goals (like the goals in the last minutes against Liverpool as one example of many) didn't count toward that CL spot? Arsenal would have been fine without them? Or would Arsenal have been closer to CL without his goals than without that headed goal by Koscielny?

Because YOU certainly wouldn't be ignoring the forest for a single branch on a single tree, would you?

There is nothing wrong with being biased, especially if you don't let it cloud your judgement too much or are at least aware of it. People who pretend to be the benevolent beacon of impartiality annoy me much more.

Just my opinion, I know everyone think RVP is such a good signing for MAn U and a top class striker...and probably is, but for me, he's still just a bit of it. Much like Aguero, top scorer last season and obviously very highly rated...but hes dropped off so much this season. Consistency shows just what level a player is, and perhaps its showing?

On the other hand, Man U probably been relying on him too much and its telling.

Aguero has been suffering from injuries all season.
RvP is merely just having a bad period of his career.
They're both class when on song. And it's not common for them to go missing on a regular basis...

he is supposed to score them goals no?? when yu get subbed off without an injury it kind of tells the tale itself

he didn't carry arsenal lol. Song was alot better than him. substitute RVP with Girourd he would have "carried" them as well with Songs throughballs and over the top balls that RVP saw applent

anyon would tell you the most important games are usually the latter ones when you start getting into knockout rounds in cups and closer to the seasons end. his season has basically been till the Winter lol. City were like 4/5 points off then so no United have practically won the league because they have been so clutch.......as usual

you really think without RVPs input in the first six months they wouldn't have won the league?? blimey Rolling Eyes

Van Persie's dip in form - Page 3 Empty Re: Van Persie's dip in form

And he has scored them goals, no? He's the second highest scorer in the league and United's top goal scorer. He's merely going through a dip in form. Nothing more.

And he did carry Arsenal. Song played a good part in Arsenal's squad last season, and they're yet to replace him but RvP was their main player. It's very similiar to Liverpool now. Lucas is our most important player, that doesn't mean Luis Suarez has not carried us this campaign, because he is.

Also, you're overrating Song's playmaking skills. He did play in some wonderful balls, but he didn't do it regularly. So I'm not too sure how you can say Song is the reason Arsenal made the 4 last year, as a playmaker... because it's not true.

Giroud is in no way shape or form on the same level of RvP. That's just insult to the Dutchman. Giroud has better players around him this season and has half the amount of goals. How exactly would he have scored the same amount last season? Or is Song you're answer to that? lol

And RvP IS the reason United have the gap. He didn't stop scoring for them until they had a 17 point gap. SINCE THEN, his form has dropped. And they're still leading it by 15 points. So yes, I feel I have every right to say he's carried them to the league this year. Because they're not going to drop 15 poinst again this season.

We'll never know if we could have done it with or without RVP last season (not exactly doing too bad without him this one) but what I do know beyond a shadow of a doubt is, without that header from Koscielny, we would have finished 4th, below Spurs, and fighting for a CL spot instead of automatically being in it

I think Danny Simpson conceding a goal in the 94th minute due to giving the ball away from a throw in was the reason myself :coffee:

C'mon man. Van persie carried us to the CL. It's not a question. There is no debate about it. Koscielny's header would have been useless if RVP hadn't carried us into that situation in the 1st place.

This United team while it does rely on RVP, is not built around him as past Arsenal teams were. They can afford to bench him considering their other options. Arsenal... well, Arsenal had Chamakh awaiting minutes.

Dip in form, as already said. He's a WC player.
