David De Gea set to seal 17.5m move to United
David De Gea is expected to finally rubber-stamp his £17.8million switch to Manchester United after arriving for his medical.
As exclusively revealed by Sportsmail earlier this year, the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper - who helped Spain to Under 21 Euro glory on Saturday - has been pinpointed as the successor to Edwin van der Sar, who retired at the end of the season.
De Gea arrived at Bridgewater Hospital on Monday to put the finishing touches to his move, which will take United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's summer spending past the £50m mark.

can't wait, if he becomes all we expect him to become, we essentially have a goal keeper for the next 2 decades.
O and check the article on the Mail site, pics of him going into hospital LOL epic fail by staff to try and hide him

Re: David De Gea
I get negged for saying that? There are some sad, hating pricks out there. Coming into our board and having a problem with us/me praising our team.
If ur lurking and reading this, f*** off from our section and go to yours because no one here gives a frak about ur team. I haven't been to no other section yet. So frak off from ours and for negging me for saying that. Sad ****.

It's not the fact that I got negged in general, it's the fact that someone came to our section and negged me for praising our new signing. I couldn't care less if I get negged a million times in the other sections. I find this rep thing pointless tbh. It's just wound me up for some reason that an oppositon fan lurked our section and didn't like that I praised our player.
Thanx anyways, mate.

I'll be honest. That caught me.
I actually thought to myself; "Yea, I guess De Grea is alright looking" before I read down.

He's a steal. And for 17.8m, that's a bargain. You guys just secured the GK spot for years to come.

Must be fun to see him in a Man U kit, but I doubt it will show much.
I don't think it's really going to be a showing though, it will be for most everyone else.
Chicago are taking on a pretty beefed up Man U squad that is going to be testing themselves more than anything else. They're going to put on a show. If he concedes any goals it's because 7 players are consistently playing on the top half.
May give you a golden opportunity to see a nice one on one.
If a young keeper knows when to stick to his line, and when to charge. That is a BIG part of the battle.
I remember VDS for Juve, he always showed that he had that knowledge.

I agree. The games he is involved in at pre season will hopefully bed him into the squad. If he has a bad game or concedes a goal, I won't be reading too much into it. I do hope he gets tested, and I hope Chicago gives United a better game than Seattle did in the 2nd half, in the 1st half, they were really good and kept our defense busy.
To see how he plays is the exciting part. SAF mentioned that he has a lot of VDS' characteristics in goal. One of the highest compliments a young GK could be given.

I'm not even being funny; doesn't he like he has the same physique as VDS?
Tall, lanky, agile. It's like a genetic mutation creating a separate breed of people made specifically for Goal Keeping. Many will say; "Well aren't all keepers like that". They should be, but not really.

Re: David De Gea
Why do you think in Spain he was called
Van Der Gea ?
The characteristic's are so similarly it's like he was cloned, but we all know talent is'nt everything he will have to so much to get near VDS.
I hope he succeeds, be interested to see how he does.

I believe De Gea is an inch or two shorter than VDS eh?
He still has incredibly long arms though.
They're like a full hand span below his waist.
This photo shows it best;
Guy could scratch his kneecaps without bending a part of his body.
