Re: Guardiola, new Bayern manager from summer
Well Heynckes is overdue to retire, the man has done some awesome work, especially this season. I'd hate for Bayern to be the reason that he can't retire for a second time. Bayern do want a long term solution but Heynckes was never that - Bayern have been constantly linked with a lot of the promising younger German coaches but none of them have proven themselves at the elite level.
The appointment of Sammer, and now Guardiola hints that Bayerns long term plans is to increase the quality of the Academy.
The most surprising thing is that it's a three year contract when Barca practically had to beg every year.
In all likelyhood I'm happy for Guardiola, because the Buli is the only elite league where he can get away from Mou and his antics - Mou would have to take a massive paycut to manaage because Pep got to the only club that could afford his wages first. But Bayern wouldn't consider hiring Mou anyways imo.

Schalke survived Magath, they would survive Mou, too.

So you'd sacrifice Schalke for the success of the Bundesliga?

Well the official line is "no"; Hoeness said to the press that Guardiola told him he very much likes the current player crop and staff at Bayern, he'll just bring two assistants, and he has said in a different interview that he doesn't want to take assets away from Barcelona, his "home" - so probably not.

I thought part of his Barca staff landed at ManCity already?Epoto wrote: will he take his staff with him from barca ? or any one else?
I doubt he will try to lure any Barca players away. I'm sure he wouldn't want to upset his home club or weaken it.
Moreover, I really think that he probably will figure out a different system for Bayern that takes into account the way players are educated in Germany, so I think he will set up a successful Bayern system tailored to the material he has there and not try to turn them into Barca 2.0.
