if you were Milan president
we all know that money is tight at Milan. they need to overhaul certain departments but due to limited transfer funds they simply can't. seems that they have sold pato for around €15 million. that's not a lot of cash but still something is better than nothing. I was wondering what Milan might do with the funds. if I were silvio then I would have gone for eriksen without thinking twice. CAM, young, creative, coming towards the end of contract and can be purchased for around €12-€15 million. this boy has a glorious future ahead of him. this is an opportunity Milan can't simply afford to turn down. opinions might differ based on your thoughts. what do you think about that? make your opinions heard folks.

Cut deficits or Berlusconi will probably use that money to pay compensation to his ex-wife.

Ajax would never sell him under 20mil, he still has a year and a half left on his contract.

Never say never. 1.5 years is not much, it's a short time, in fact. Right now they might ask 20m, but next summer they're already in a much weaker position. A year from now and they could lose him for less than 10m or risk letting him go for free in summer 2014.

they will probably sell him in the summer for less then 15m but for now they have no reason to sell , he is a big part of their team

Re: if you were Milan president
As I said in the mercato thread, what people need to understand is that Pato wanted to leave for Corinthians,it wasn't Milan that wanted to sell.same for robinho,so it had nothing to do with money

Filip Djuricic Would come for 4mill. Milan have already been linked with him too. Has a similar ceiling to Eriksen potential wise.

Re: if you were Milan president
I doubt Ajax would hold out for such a high fee.... this is Ajax we are talking about.
They sold Anita, Vertonghen and VDW for less than 20m combined.
Without sounding too disrespectful they are not very good at getting good deals for their best players.

I could be wrong, but I think they would rather get an extra year or 2 out of a quality player than sell when they still need him.
Probably makes sense for them seeing as they have such a youth system they can always replace the players but the timing has to be right.

Re: if you were Milan president
Well yeah but i still doubt he would cost that much when it comes down to it and Eriksen actually wanted to leave.....
They sold Suarez for less, its a shame but its just a state of where they are nowadays.
I think the main thing is his performances have meant interest has cooled and he's a smart kid anyway so he won't leave for just anyone.
But i don't think it would cost that much to get him as long as Eriksen would want to leave.

Pato, at 23 years old, already sent packing back to Brazil. He never fullfilled the expectations that some people had. He is still young, but that's a big setback from someone like him.

Of course, but there not many carreer that went like that and ended up successful in Europe. Fred is another exemple.

2 very different examples.Pato always performed for Milan, against some of the best teams in the world and is going back to sort out his injury issues before returning to Europe probably when he turns 25 or 26.OLpower wrote:Ganso wrote:He could just go back to Europe in a year or 2 you know....OLpower wrote:Pato, at 23 years old, already sent packing back to Brazil. Fred went to Lyon and returned as a flop simply because he wasnt good enough (mainly because of Benzema). And Fred is a very specific type of player,he is a pure CF and almost no one plays with someone like him anymore.

Fred was good but had a bad attitude (not serious, cry baby, problem maker). But talent wise he had easily the level. Pato seems to have issues as well with its motivation.
Robinho went back to Brazil as well and never really rebounded even if he went back to Milan. Adriano as well. It is very rare for a brazilian footballer to go back to Brazil and then to make a comeback in Europe years later.
