Guiltybystander wrote:Bergkamp, imo, is the best Dutch player after Cruyff. He is considered a great player, yes, but he never really got the recognition he deserves, because he never won that much. While Van Persie is by no means a Bergkamp (although he is an amazing player), he is aware of this, and doesn't want to see a similar path.
He is 27 now, so he realistically only has a couple of years left at the top flight. He wants some glory, I suppose.
I am an Arsenal fan, and I really wish them all the best, but if we see Nasri, Fabregas, etc. leaving, I simply don't believe Wenger will be able to replace all of them to build a succesful team again within 2 years. Unless he buys some big names.
Van Persie is a gunner, but I would not be surprised if he decides to leave if nothing changes and all the others leave.
bro, Kolo = Vermaelen
Henry = Adebayor ( to some extent )
Adebayor = Van Persie
I'm ADAMANT , if Nasri leaves and Theo stays fit, thats the replacement right there, if anyone denies it , they haven't watched the first part of the season.
Gervinho is coming though so he could replace Nasri .
That would mean Wenger would make Walcott a striker ( If he didn't buy anyone ) and picture him reaching his maximum potential in his FAVORED position . We won more then enough games this year without Fab to prove that we can live without him .
This is all hypothetical, of course.

I am not at all sure what you are trying to say, but whatever,
I am not doubting the quality of the remaining Arsenal players, but, BE REALISTIC, is Arsenal going
to go for gold with a team like that? Can they win the Champions League, the EPL even, with that team?
I doubt it. And Van Persie probably does too.

What I mean is, no Arsenal player leaves without having a definite replacement .
Also, no team would be the same team if 3 essential players left of course, I'm not saying that, Arsenal is not a perfect club , it's a regular club like anyone else. But they are replaceable and you never know what happens in football.
EDIT: lol I'm sorry I didn't point out what I meant in the first post, you really need to bare with me, I'm just so frustrated

I agree with you, and I really wish Arsenal can keep this team together, because I am quite sure they would do great next year. I hope they all stay, or at least some of the key players.
But if they don't stay, I agree with (allegedly) Van Persie's wish that the replacements of these players aren't unproven players, but at least established names. Try and buy Benzema, for example. In that case, Van Persie will stay, but it must be very frustrating for a player like Van Persie to see this happen every single time.
And I was reasoning from the perspective of Van Persie as well.

Wouldn't blame RVP if he had thoughts of leaving.

Sports News 24/7
The high profile departures from Arsenal look set to continue with two more players been linked with the Emirates exit door.
According to the reports in England the vultures are swarming around Arsene Wenger’s side with Galatasaray planning a 13.5 million swoop for Russian Andrey Arshavin according to the Sun.
The 30 year old has also been linked with a return to Russia with Zenith St Petersburg and could be allowed to leave as Arsene Wenger has Lille Star Gervinho on the way.
The Frenchman will however be more concerned with the news that Robin van Persie could hand in a transfer request.
According to the Daily Star, the Dutch striker is reportedly unhappy with the number of players leaving the club and unless he receives re-assurances over the future of the club he will look for a move.
Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Nicholas Bendtner all look set to leave the Gunners this summer with big money moves been lined up for the quartet.

yeah typical Madrid mentality/loyalty.
im not quite sure what that means, but youhave the right to vent it's ok.
if my club has done zilch in 5 years, consistently fail to invest properly and now is being abandoned by its best players, there is nothing noble about staying.
it sounds a lil harsh but it's a reality. i would leave. dude gave so many years to arsenal but he is being disrespected with the lack of ambition shown.

Dear dear, who else is left? Denilson? Song? Wilshere? Diaby? This is really sad but was kinda inevitable.

I'm sorry bout what I said, I really like Madrid, I don't say shit like that lol I'm not used to venting my anger .
TBH, we just moved into a new stadium in a time where we lost most of our best players, and didn't have the finance to buy new ones, we managed , and the reason Wenger might not spend to much now, is because it's not really required. 1-2 signings MAX.

Re: Dutch media report that Van Persie wants to leave.
THB Van Persie is in the exactly similar situation Torres was with us.He is already 27,only have few best years and havent won anything.
So wont really be surprised if he looks to leave if he looks to bail out like Torres did.

Re: Dutch media report that Van Persie wants to leave.
The media a bunch scumbags, they probably asked him if he will sign a extension like any pro athletic he will say he dont know, he does not want to make himself look weak.
I dont believe anything the papers say anymore. Arsenal still has all their players.
People say this is the end for Arsenal, you forgot that we lost players that, cesc, nasri,RVP, could not step in their shoes, ARSENAL will always bring in talent and compete.

Its the media making up all this shit.mtfootball wrote:What's with all the Arsenal players wanting to leave.
FACT! Robin Van Persie has been with Arsenal for seven years and Wenger has always supported him during his endless injuries.
FACT! He has two years left on his contract and Wenger is going to offer him a new five-year contract so he can end his career at the Gunners.
FACT! Van Persie has already admitted he is not going anywhere! He said earlier this year:
“I don’t have the inclination to go anywhere. This is the best team for me to be in.
“The bottom line is that I want to win trophies with Arsenal, not with anybody else. I know you can win trophies in many countries and in many ways, but I want to do that in our way and in an Arsenal shirt.
“I’m sure I could win things at another team in another country, but would it feel like our trophy, my trophy? I’m not sure it would. Anything we win here will come from the heart and that’s what I want.
“It’s my dream and I see no point in speaking about other teams when I have these dreams. I think other people know that about me; I’m just hungry to win with Arsenal and that’s it.”
Does that sound like a player that is going to issue ultimatums to Arsene Wenger?

Re: Dutch media report that Van Persie wants to leave.
A couple of months ago he made a comment about how he never wants to leave Arsenal, even for a club that could on paper guarantee trophies, because success for the sake of success is not enough for him. What he wants is to have success with Arsenal, even if it ends up being more difficult, because he loves the club and their philosophy.
This story here reeks of horse crap.
EDIT: Yeah, Raptor already posted the exact quote.

Re: Dutch media report that Van Persie wants to leave.
kk, no one is leaving except maybe clichy. This is all media bull. What nasri is doing is, he wants to stay, but is trying to get wenger to sign players to improve the squad. Hes pretty much using the contract dispute as a way to get his point across to the board. And as Eman said, RVP recently said he wants to play his career out at Arsenal. We all know the Cesc situation, Barca wont pay, plus recently he said that he wants to stay and win trophies with arsenal first and then he will decide.

Re: Dutch media report that Van Persie wants to leave.
I think it's BS.
Last summer, media picked up on Liverpool and how all their players want to leave.
This summer Arsenal.
Next summer, some other team
Selling papers is all that matters

With speculation as your only weapon, you lot and the media have managed to turn Arsenal into a club that will lose half of its first-team players in one summer. Well done
