Paraguay the dark horse?
My question for everyone is why is everone seemingly forgetting about paraguay in the copa america. Last time they played both brazil and argentina, they beat them both. They also had a vey strong world cup, and with a frontljne with Cardozo, Valdes, and an on fire Barrios after winning the bundesliga and scoring around 20 goals last season. They may not have the big names that argentina, brazil, or even uruguay have, but their extremely good and I think everyone should watch out for them.

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
I still think Colombia are the true dark horses, but Paraguay and Chile (both had a respectable WC) are close behind. Can't wait for tomorrow!!!!

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
It's interesting, because there are several 'dark horses' in the Copa. Everyone only talks about Arg/Brazil/Uruguay, but a few other teams like Paraguay and Chile have really solid squads with a couple of big-name players as well.

I expect Paraguay to make the semis...
But don't be surprised when Venezuela qualify from their group, they're good, especially with Orozco...

Colombia are the dark horses. They got quality players like Falcao, Zapata, Rodagellla and Yepes. I expect them to make the semis.

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
That would be awesome, but the least I expect is that we make it out of the group, which we didn't do in '07. But I can see Colombia getting further than expected, especially if some of the stronger teams face off in the QFs. It's just a shame that Ospina couldn't make it because of his injury in training. That sucks so bad.milanista99 wrote:Colombia are the dark horses. They got quality players like Falcao, Zapata, Rodagellla and Yepes. I expect them to make the semis.

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
Colombia vs. Brazil final. I'm calling it.
Then they still have some players that weren't called up that could've made a difference like Giovanni Moreno, and lets not get into the James Rodriguez debate. Edwin Cardona

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
I agree with Guiltybystander. Look at what Argentina was yesterday, a lot of players with a lot of propaganda, but do not work good as a team. Tevez selfish, Di Maria selfish, everybody doing an awful work, and as a result making Messi not shine.
Chile, Paraguay, Colombia or Uruguay win this cup.

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
Paraguay - Uruguay final in my opinion, with Paraguay winning it.
Also, just checked and itsays on wiki that cardozo is not in the paraguay squad. I dont understand that at all, and its a big loss, but I think paraguay can still do fine, especially with Barrios being on fire after winning the bundesliga this last season.

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
Chile has Vidal, Isla, Sanchez, Suazo
Paraguay has Santa Cruz, Barrios, Valdez
Venezuela has Rondón, Orozco, Miku, Ríncon
Colombia has Falcao, Yepes, Zapata
Ecuador has Valencia, Caicedo
Even Peru and Bolivia who do not have a pretty talented squad got a desire to win and a good chemistry that will help them fight against any team.
Also, let's not forget the power houses like Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay
The Copa America is full of quality.

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
I think Colombia has a little bit more "umph" though.
Cuardado, Aguilar, Guarin, Ramos, Rodallega, Moreno
can't wait to see them today.
sidenote: watch Joel Campbell of Costa Rica. next Paulo Wanchope.

Oh well, I was just pointing the players that came to my mind. I know Colombia got a lot of quality. Can't wait to see them in a few hours.

Yes, pretty sad. I am not one who wishes any ill thoughts to anyone but Chavez has done so much harm to my family and my country that it has made me think about it sometimes. I think that says enough.

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
I share your thoughts Mauro, but i felt bad for him in that press conference where he announced he had cancer.
Venezuela, like Bolivia, could be one of the richest countries of the world... but don't lose the hope, some day, someone will put Venezuela in the right track.

Re: Paraguay the dark horse?
I think the Copa America is 3rd in most competitive international competitions, only after the World Cup and Euro. In the Copa, any of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and even Chile or Colombia have chances to win it. But in the Euro any of Germany, Spain, Italy, France, England, Holland, or even Portugal can all have a chance of winning it. The Copa is above the Asian Cup though, as well as the Gold Cup which is basically USA versus Mexico, and the ACON as well, which is basically between Egypt and the Ivory Coast. But the WC is #1 obviously cause its all these teams in one.
