Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
So tomorrow's game
After the last few games, it's really important we win our next 3-4 games in a row. It's crucial. we can't really depend on other teams to be in a shit form for the rest of the season. If liverpool start finishing their chances, or if Tottenham find their good form then it will be really difficult for us.
We are getting better IMO. Now we just need to get on a winning streak and home games are the best way to do that.
Tomorrows game will be difficult but we should be winning it. no excuses.
Would like to see some changes in midfield. A lot of tired legs out there. Hopefully wenger goes for a sensible team

Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
If established1886 is right about gervinho starting upfront the i really got bad feeling about this one. Gervinho's first touch is worse than any other Arsenal player and he is not that a good finisher either. I would like to see us try either Podolski or Walcott there.

Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
Giroud can't move atm. He is 80% burnt out.
I would personally start Theo upfront with Gervinho right tomorrow. But Gervinho is shit on the right and he is not THAT bad as a false 9. We did do pretty good early on when he was there.
But it shows how shit we are in terms of depth upfront. Huntelaar/Adrian are a must

I would prefer Giroud aswell, but if he's not 100% fit there's no reason to start him. Atleast Gervinho will play upfront and not on the wing, that alone is a little plus

Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
Gervinho if has crap touch and not great finisher
but will work the channels and create numerical advantages down the flanks and drag defenders out of position
so important we have midfield runners and wide forwards with proper movement

You guys are way, way too harsh on Gervinho. On the wing, we've seen he has the ability to bamboozle defenders and his decision making isn't that bad (got quote a few assists earlier in the season from that position) and as for his finishing upfront...
People are acting like w'ere starting Santos upfront ffs

Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
This game has 0-0 written all over it.
Swansea keep the ball well and will be happy with a point. We can't put meaningful attacks together to save our life against an organised team.
Swansea are an organised team.
Concerned about Michu. He runs from deep but I don't know who we have that's pyhsical enough to pick him up. Can you see Arteta tracking him? Wilshere? On the plus side Poldi's had a rest and can always grab a goal or two.
Very worried about today's game, but COYG (with a bit of a frustrated whimper).

Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
Gervinho has good skills, athletic ability, and even gets back and defends when he plays on the wings, but he never crosses and always tries to take people on. In the middle, his movement can hurt teams, but he's not really the holding-the-ball-up type of player. With him just coming back, I'm not sure if we should play him over Giroud. Then again, if this is an open game, maybe it will work. I wouldn't mind Theo playing centrally though with Podolski and AOC supporting him (or Podolski central).Lex wrote:You guys are way, way too harsh on Gervinho. Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
totally agree.. Santos will be better than Gervinho as LF or an attacker.. Better cross, better shot, more skills and there will be some endproduct...Raptorgunner wrote:Lex, Santos>>>>Gervinho up front.

I dont want to see Gervinho anymore.. Only thing is his pace and movement.. But his touch and decision making is horrible.. He spoils the hard work done by other players by giving the ball away cheaply.. He has more negative impact on the team than positives..
No questions.. If Giroud is tired, Podolski should start upfront..
There is no chance for us if we dont press them hard in midfield.. We wont be able to touch the ball if we sit back and defend like what we were doing in the previous matches.. Their passing and possession skills are better than us.. Yeah this game is poised for 0-0 if we defend solidly..

Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
Gervinho is miles better than Fatsos
Stop the non sense please. He's not world class but he's certainly better than someone as fat as Santos.
As Eman said Gervinho is extremely frustrating on the wing, but when played centrally he doesn't have to dribble the whole team to get close to the goal, his movement without the ball is excellent and that alone can benefit greatly the team.
For this game though I would still prefer Giroud because the difference in height (Williams and Chico being 6ft 0in, Giroud 6ft 4in), but if he's not fit then fair enough, Gervinho it is.

Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
No one's saying Gervinho suddenly has Messi's touch but goals tend to be scored when he starts. He typically needs less time on the ball when he's played centrally and if we started Poldi or Theo there then that would mean Gervinho would have a torrid time on either wing. We already know Poldi and Theo are productive on the left and right respectively and that Gervinho is centrally so why not play everyone to their full potential?

Re: Arsenal v Swansea Preview
People acting like Gervinho is Torres smh.
He was our top scorer until he got injured, although it speaks more of our quality than anything else.
He certainly has his qualities and I still think he can productive if he plays centrally (like any other of our forwards )
I would still start Giroud because he can bully Swansea's defense but it's up to Wenger.
I certainly wouldn't drop Gervinho in to the deep after 2 months out,his moral could be at an all time low if he manages to *bleep* and and we lose/draw.
