Re: Mexes>Ibra
I understand we all have our opinions, but I fail to see how the Ibra goal was better. Hart was out of position and basically gifted Ibra with the opportunity. Mexes (a defender) controlled a cross from the opposite field and created the opportunity. Both goals are beauties, but I'm in the Mexes > Ibra boat.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
I think the control with his chest and then the overhead kick makes Mexes' more impressive to me.

Because a goal like that does belong in a section, it deserves its own section

Re: Mexes>Ibra
Maybe it's just me but I prefer Mexes' goal over Ibra.
Both out of this world.
But the perfect chest control followed by that shot... with a keeper in the box.
Completely fooled him.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
Another thing, Mexes's goal was more clinical than Ibra's and he was under the pressure of many defenders.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
Amazing goal. I think I agree that Mexes goal is better because he had to beat the GK.
But Ibra's goal was more praised because he was from further away and because he had to kick it very unnaturally to score.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
Im sure someone scored a goal like this from 30 yards or so in the champions league a while ago, which was better than both this and ibra. Dont remember the players name thoughJespSwe wrote:
mexes controlled it with chest and beat the keeper to put that in...
tremendous CL.. one of the best CL i have ever seen..
first is obvious that zidane's goal against leverkusen

I don't get the fuss about Mexes' goal. Sure it was great. Great take down on the chest and brilliantly executed, but Ibra's was better hands down.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
Why did you have to spoil the feeling of the goal by comparing it to Ibra's? It was a stunning goal, but Ibra's was better IMO. You should have left Ibra out of the title, this goal is a beast on tis own. This way you just open a door for comparison and that will make it look less of what it is.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
You guys that say Ibra's wasn't that great. Sure Hart wasn't in goal, and he would've easily saved it if he was. But he wasn't. And Ibra wouldn't have tried that shot if Hart was in goal. And furthermore, I don't think ya'll understand how tough it was to pull of what he did.
I mean, the ball was moving away from him (backwards from the goal) and he hit it first time in mid-air (yes he didn't even let the ball bounce). That's super hard to pull off, and if many others attempted that they wouldn't even got the shot on target.

I agree with everybody who said that we should just appreciate both goals (Ibra and Mexes') in their own right.

Finally someone of you Stunad's will acknowledge that he has been the better player (skill/technique) for quite some time.
Best goal in the history of football.
What do I even say to you ArqJuve?
I'm not angry...
I just expected more from you.
Heat of the moment thing. I woke up this morning with my face abashed with shame.
I am back to the Church of Ibrahimassist as forgive me father Tomquitecto for my sin.
But seriously, Ibra's goal was better due to the moment of ingenious itself. He took the instict to take advantage of Hart's positioning and strike the ball which floated 6 foot up in the air without a touch as the technique also was superior.
That improvisation and genius technique alone makes it superior to Mexes' if any other goal.

Perhaps I expected too much of you, you're young and hot headed. With time you will become calm and have the ability to control your emotions.
With your analysis and use of "Ibrahimassist" you have earned yourself some redemption, I hope you can learn from this experience and take it with you in the future young padawan.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
Why Ibra? His is great and everyone was astounded by the goal.
But Mexes' from a dead ball situation with defenders managed to chest it then completely switch on the goal keeper but putting it far post. Oh and he's a defender.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
This is just as good if not better than Ibra's, he needed to take a touch to kill the curling free kick before hitting the shot. Unlike Ibra's where he just jumps and shoot. And what perfect execution from MExes

Re: Mexes>Ibra
The more I see it the more I love it. Just a shame that it came a week after Ibra had the world drooling over his effort v England....that's why I think this goal is a bit underrated.
It's just as good as Ibra's imo. We've been fortunate to witness some incredible goals recently.

Re: Mexes>Ibra
A lot of us give credit for things outside the aesthetics, difficulty, technique employed, etc. in scoring a goal. That is why I believe Ibra's goal has been apprized more.
People would be hailing Mexes' goal as the best goal if it was some great striker. But maybe that's not just because of bias but because people assume that they are proven goal scorers with great technique and that it wasn't a shot in the dark since those players knew exactly what they were doing.

Ibra's goal wouldn't have gotten half the hype if it wasn't against the most famous NT in the World.

I woke up this morning and still agree with Mexes>Ibra
I can't forgot about Ibra's past work and his background in Karate - while his goal impressed me, it's just something I've come to expect from him. Not saying it was easy or that it wasn't incredible, I'm just saying that I'm more impressed with Mexes' effort.
