Jose Angel in Roma discussions



Roma are in talks with Sporting Gijon for Jose Angel Valdes, the player’s agent has told Sky Sport 24.

“I don’t know if the deal will be done today, but I do know that officials from both clubs are talking,” Alfredo Martinez noted.

“I can confirm that Roma are in pole position for my client and they represent a great opportunity for Jose.”

The left-back is 23-years-old and is a product of the Sporting Gijon youth academy. The player has represented Spain at Under-20 and Under-21 youth level.

Roma will be bossed by Spaniard Luis Enrique next term after he arrived from Barcelona B to replace Vincenzo Montella.

According to Opta stats, Angel provided 125 crosses in La Liga last term – more than any other player at his club.

Roma are on the verge of signing Jose Angel Valdes from Sporting Gijon, says Walter Sabatini.

Speaking with Cadena Ser on Friday, the Giallorossi sporting director believes he has his man.

“He’ll arrive in the next 24 hours,” the official stated. “The deal should be completed either later today or tomorrow at the latest.

“However, it has to all be confirmed by Gijon.”

The left-back is 23-years-old and is a product of the Sporting Gijon youth academy. The player has represented Spain at Under-20 and Under-21 youth level.

Yeah.Very good move by Sabatini.For the u-21 Spain side he was playing as a CB, so thats good in emergency case.

Man would I love to see Roma line up next year with something like a:

Isla - Burdisso - Juan - Angel

Such an upgrade from Riise and Cassetti.

Riise is a good squad player. Very good. Can play futher up too.

Yea Isla would be a great fit, but unfortunately the rumours linking us with him have completely died out.

Anyways, I've heard some good things of Angel and it seems like obtaining him for 5 million might end up being a bargain.

Not in Enrique's system, imo. He runs a lot, but sometimes lacks the technique, so he wouldn't be a good fit being placed higher up in a 4-3-3.
