Adam Morgan was on the mark as Liverpool U18s continued their superb pre-season form with a 4-0 win over Macclesfield Town.

Mike Marsh's side have now hit 33 goals in six pre-season games.

Portugese youngster Yalany Baio netted the pick of the bunch with a spectacular overhead kick, while Sam Gainford scored twice, including a late penalty.

Marsh's side now face two more friendlies before their season opener with Cardiff City on August 20 - a match you can watch live on LFC TV.

Anybody thinks the reserves won't live up to the increased expectations caused by the academy in the U20 CL?

So far they have been pretty average..

Well actually i have a lot of hopes for this upcoming tournament! ! Solely because of the performance of our Academy players! but yes true the reserves raise a question. .but then again the reserves did contain some of our more under performing players! so with the inclusion of some of our Academy starlets & Raheem! ! I believe the team for the U20 tournament would be a team to look forward to Very Happy

How potent is our youth products!!! There is wide-spread view that our youth products are some of the finest but what is the ground reality!!!

Pacheco is rumored to be loaned out for this season. Isn't he one of our brightest products & isn't our attack squad thinest!!!

Ayala has been sold while there is constant rumor on buying a new CB.

Wilson is rumored to be loaned out. While he may return and compete for place, he may very well follow Ayala.

Shelvy is rumored to be loaned out.

What I'm saying is these players are supposed to provide cover & fight for future starting places and not considered as 'surplus'.

Liverpool have announced they have completed the signing of USA U18 striker Villyan Bijev.

The youngster impressed on trial at the Academy during the summer and he has signed in from American outfit California Odyssey.

The players doesn't yet have a work permit so he has also completed a simultaneous loan to German side Fortuna Dusseldorf with effect from Wednesday.

Reds youngsters Andre Wisdom and Jon Flanagan have joined Jordan Henderson and Jonjo Shelvey in the England Under-21 squad this week.
