Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
If Holtby indeed joins Tottenham in the summer, that will be a great signing for them.

Failed target. A superb player on a free, and only on £60k wages? It's alright though, because Liverpool Football Club will acquire the services of Josh McEachran for £30M next summer.

I agree with you, Holtby for free is a great coup. One that we should perhaps have fought for if Tottenham managed to sign him. But you, buddy, should take a less provocative stance here if you really support Liverpool. So far I don't think you do. All you seem to want to do is to get a reaction - and you've been very successful at that. You're a good writer and I always like that. Reading well-written text (nods at Treddy even if doesn't always reply to his posts) is one of the (small) joys of life, if you ask me. But if you want to be taken seriously around here in the long-term, you should be at least a little supportive of our club even in these difficult times.

Fantastically put Art. Peerless quite frankly is enjoyable to read in his articulate posts and drawn out posts. I'm sure if he eliminates his somewhat negative tendencies (which some find offensive) he'll integrate here in no time as I don't buy that he is a troll.
There is a difference between being critical and just negative. Art is critical while Peerless tends to be the latter.

I was just poking fun at how there is a tendency for Liverpool Football Club to be linked with UK-based players, and paying pretty extortionate prices for some of them. Daniel Sturridge, Joseph Allen, Craig Bellamy, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Andrew Carroll, Paul Konchesky, Joseph Cole, Daniel Wilson, and Jonjo Shelvey, etc.
I'm all up for supporting the club I love, but there hasn't been much to be happy about.

I believe the fact that Spurs are 3rd in the table now, and looking very good for CL qualification next year, has played a big role.

You know we used to be the team that made smart signings like Holtby back in the day. Spurs look like they are going to be around the 4th spot for the long haul, which is good for the league but sucks for us.

Nah, they'll have their fun for a while. Then we will rise again harder and stronger.

Nicolas Isimat-Mirin of Ligue 1 side Valenciennes is being linked by some reports in The Times (normally reliable).
He would be replacing Coates who might leave on loan. Then again the kid never got a chance to shine

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
Now another worrying quote from Rodgers interview was that LFC would make only one more signing. I don't know about the rest of you but i was expecting 2/3 more. Permanent or on loan.
It can also be a strategy to manager expectations by Rodgers. . .
Ince deal seems nearing completion & no word on Gameiro

We're looking to loan out Coates. Seems a good deal for me.

A loan deal would be fine, perhaps a Championship side? Since Carragher has been 3rd choice all season long.

I don't mind if Carragher stays for another year, but surely he can't be the regular 3rd choice any longer...

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
Not good news to me tbh. Even Carra knew his time was up. Cmon BR, should've just given a coaching job and be done with it. We aren't going to win the PL anytime soon to include Carra in hopes of him getting his hands on the trophy as well.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
12.45 GMT: Contract talk from Borussia Dortmund has been a recurring theme recently as they look to tie up some of their stars. However it's being reported that Kevin Grosskreutz has stalled with his contract and may be moving to Liverpool. After selling Ivan Perisic to Wolfsburg, Dortmund will need to tie up Grosskreutz or look elsewhere for cover on the flanks.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
yeah i also read that he was not happy because he was not getting enough chances, this Dortmund born right footer can be really an exciting addition but he is not in great form this season. He may be available for little more than what we are paying for Ince deal.
Also read that Sahin is almost 99% done deal to Dortmund, dont know the logic behind this percentage.
Also, Widom joins the other players by signing a new deal.

We haven't heard anything from our front in terms of getting rid of Sahin and yet I keep reading that his move to Dortmund is almost finalized.

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
Gone are both Joe Cole (2 goals, 1 assist) and Sahin (3 goals, 3 assists). Freeing up cap space Two of the most useless signing in recent memory behind the obvious (PFK, Poulsen, Jovanovic)

Retire #4 please. Eversince Hyypia has left in summer of 2009, this number has been handed around, and whoever wears it, ends up either not playing, or leaving.
Victims of the cursed #4:
1- Alberto Aquilani
2- Raul Meireles
3- Nuri Sahin
4- ?????

Re: The January Transfer Window 2013
You can almost make the same case for our #10...
1.) Voronin
2.) Joe Cole
3.) ...
The problem isn't the shirt it's the type of player we've been scouting for a while now.
In fairness, I think Sahin ticked all the boxes we needed. Sometimes players just don't fit in a squad. He ended up being in direct competition for the free-floating CM in Rodgers system... He was never going to win that , and he ruled himself out of other positions with his complaints.
I actually think Sahin is a great bit of business on several levels. He was a player of the perceived quality we needed, but we didn't rush into splashing large amounts of cash to secure him to a long-term deal. When he didn't fit into the squad/plans, we cut him loose with minimal cost. Yes, we paid a loan fee and his rather large wages, but we're ultimately recouping a little bit of that from what I hear. Essentially, we took a punt on a possible world-beater and came out none the worse for wear.

Have we bought any players other than Sturridge! Can't believe Spurs has nicked Holtby, that too for free.
