The new Série D format will be like this, apparently:

- 4 groups of 8 teams each, the top 4 advance to the 2nd round (Round of 16)
- Then a Round of 16, quarter-finals, semis and final.

The 32 teams will be one representative from each state (27 teams), the 4 teams relegated from Série C and the best team in Série D that didn't get promoted (Cianorte).
