I just attack and if I see a goal scoring opportunity I take it lol, force of habit.. I hate passing the ball around and doing nothing.. Besides its not like people score in the first 5 min often, if it happens the opponent should just take it like a man

It's weird that I didn't play against Madrid once until I got to like Division 6, I thought EA stopped allowing the same teams to play each other since I only play with Madrid in seasons.. That would of been a great idea, but now in D4+ pretty much all of my games have been against Madrid.. It would be nice if you can see which club/country your opponent is a supporter of before the match starts, just to see if they really support the team that they are playing with

Also the majority of my games are played in the rain which is pretty ridiculous imo, yet I have not played a single game in the snow and I already sealed promotion to D2..

From D4 and higher divisions you'll meet Real Madrid 99% of the time..

And I don't score until after 5 minute. People at D1, 2 & 3 will always quit if you score within 5 min...

I wonder when EA will stop overrating Ronaldo. I mean in real life he barely dribbles past people anymore, yet he still has 90+ dribbling.

Same with Marcelo, he's weak defensively, yet he's overpowered.

Realised I havent said what im doing in this thread.

MM with Mancheter Utd, wanted to do PL and a strong team but not tons of money, like City.

Anyway, been busy, moving house, playing other games (gasp) and so on so I am only in December first season at the moment.

Heres what im running with and the story so far.

2nd in the league, behind City on goal difference. Cant remember the record but I havent lost yet (just 15 games in I think) but im not first because I drawn like 4 games.


Bench: Danilo, Jones, M'Villa, Valencia, Scholes or Giggs, Welbeck or Hernandez

Rest of used squad : Buttner, Maher, Bebe lol

Signed : M'Villa, Maher, Danilo

Sold : Evans, Fletcher, some other young fodders who wont amount to anything.

My idea is a Barca midfield set up, as in I have to have one holding player who can pass. I quickly found out how important Carrick is to this style, I would say outside Rooney and RVP he has been my best player. Defends well, stronger than real life and his passing is very good. Anyway, I started the season with Scholes playing with him supporting him and finding forward passes but now Clev is better than him both rating wise (80-79) and my eye test. Kagawa plays the Iniesta role perfectly.

The twist I have is that there is no leftwinger on this team. Rooney is constantly making diagonal runs inside, aswell as coming deep, both these movements drag the opponant rightback out of position and Kagawa has done alot of damage in this role. I dont know the stats but I would say 80% of what he has done has come from this movement I have created. Im quite proud of how I managed to get this to work.

Rooney has been my best player, 2nd top scorer to Dzeko in the league and leads the league in assists. I think he has 10 goals in 8 assists in the PL so far. I started with the idea that I would rotate Valencia and Nani and I started doing that, but the last 2 months Nani has been good (scored a winning goal against Chelsea, set up the winning goal vs City) while Valencia has been poor. RVP started the season on fire, best player easily...but he he broke his ankle after 5 games and only returned last week. I had been playing Welbeck because he suits system (no striker, all players able to play in different areas) more than Hernandez. I tried to sell Hernandez to Liverpool, they offered 18. I got greedy and asked for 24 and they said no and ended it there. Glad I didnt really because Welbeck choose to be shit for like half the games (all in a row) and Hernandez scored quite alot of goals. I do want to someone else as my 3rd forward but I dont know who, nor do I know who to sell...so I will just keep them both and see how the year pans out. No sales in Jan.

In defence, my idea was Rafael and Danilo rotating at rightback and the usual back 4 with Jones as Vidic back up, Smalling as Rio back up, Buttner as Evra backup. However, I like 1.5 months into the season realised that I dont need an attacking rightback because the rightwinger, be it Nani or Valencia stays very wide and the real attacking comes from Evra because he gets forward a ton, probably because I have no leftwinger in front of him and he is often open for the switch. So to be extra strong defensively I am going to have Smalling my rightback (sort of like how Barca had Abidal at leftback) and Danilo (I signed him so he is going to play lol) as back up rather than rotating. It has helped, Smalling was pretty lame when I used hi at centerback in the air, but at rightback, against smaller wingers, he dominates.

Future

Rafael has no place in the squad now, so I think in Jan I will sell him. Now Smalling is a rightback, I could use a centerback. I aint got much money (I think 6m) so im either going to get Vasco to agree a Rafael plus money swap or I will have to wait till summer. Not going to request funds for something I dont really need.

Once Rio starts falling off (he has been responsible for some goals this season) I am leaning towards trying to make a move for Hummels. Need to pair Vidic with someone classy on the ball and while Dede seems a beast on paper and I have Jones..they seem the physical type. I found a young kid from France, Zouma...17..looks a scary good talent. I will snare him at some point.

Further on, after getting a good offer from Everton for Fletcher I sold him and got M'Villa. I was going to be him or Capoue..really they are the only realistic two young players who can pass the ball but still defend. I struggled to find other types in this role, its really difficult. Maher is an experiement of mine. I can see he is talented (RL too) but he isnt the fastest or the strongest which could hurt him in the PL. So far he has played only cup games and a couple games where I rotated, he has looked good to be fair. Some super passes. Played much better than Giggs who doesnt fit in this system at all and has complained about a lack of gametime despite considering retirement.

Well being serious, in the game you can get away with that so I feel for you. But in real life, its not a thing any defender would/should do.

Never. He is a star player, one of the most recognisable players worldwide and so on...he was known for his dribbling and he still does tricks (even if most are pointless) so they wont ever change it. I mean, its the same reason why Kaka was still so good last year as an overall rating.

Marcelo I think it is just difficult. He is strong and fairly quick and he isnt actually a horrible tackler, so the stats probably reflect that. In RL his problem is positioning, concentration and awareness...its much harder to do in games, especially when the user can control where to position the players by simply pressing the stick and using g him.

That Neymar ball flick is a poor animation. The whole point of the skill is to get the defender running hard and then changing direction on him with the flick in surprise. You cant slowly go left and then flick right and expect it to work.

The rest is pretty sick though. Reverse elastico is unrealistic as hell but fun to see.
