Post by urbaNRoots Sun Dec 02, 2012 10:45 pm

Arsene Wenger last night insisted he will NEVER quit Arsenal and expects to be in charge until at least 2014.

"If you ask me always about my future, I can only give you one answer," said Wenger. "I always respected my contracts, and that is it."

Wenger said: "At home we have struggled with confidence and belief. It's difficult to put a finger on it because we won 5-2 against Tottenham and we had not lost for a while.

"You look at the moment at this uncertainty amongst the fans, where there is not complete confidence that we will win games.

"I don't know if it has an influence on our performance - we have to look at the solution from inside and not expect too much from outside.

"I believe that at the moment we cannot be satisfied with the quality of our game. But at the moment that is more important than the psychological side. But this was a more physical factor than psychological."

Wenger insists that he is not hurt by the growing unrest and trend towards wanting a change of manager. But he also insisted that there is no quick fix either.

"I want our fans to be happy and to be over the moon, but I cannot say it affects the way I feel," said Wenger.

"Because I feel I have to focus on the job to see how we can sort our problems out.

"We lost a game and even though it is a massive disappointment, I do not want to go straight away to general conclusions. We want to win the next one.

"You can see from the results that it is difficult for everybody at the moment. All the teams. Even those who have invested a lot of money, it's difficult for everybody.

"You have to keep the focus and the desire, and the ambition and turn it round. That's how it works. You cannot go to definite conclusions from one game."

Martin Samuel writes in the Mail that he doesn't think Arsenal have £70m to spend, otherwise RVP would still be there - http://bit.ly/UjkfnW

Excellent read that

"If Arsene Wenger genuinely had £70million to spend, do you know who his striker would be? Robin van Persie. Still.

Van Persie would never have left Arsenal if, in his talks with Wenger, he had been convinced that lavish funds were available and would be spent on the team. If Wenger could have given Van Persie any form of guarantee that £70m was coming his way, he might not have been so eager to sign for Manchester United."

This is so true

"He never seemed to spend the £30m that was his in the Highbury days, either, or the £55m it was claimed sat in Arsenal’s transfer kitty last summer. He has £40m reserved for improvements in January also. Whether that is part of the £70m or in addition to it, nobody is quite sure"

How does he know van Persie wouldn't leave if there was the money? He left because he didn't want to wait anymore to win anything. "If you can't beat them, join them" that's what van Persie did.

Also this guy goes on how Wenger doesn't spend money, in 2011 summer he brought Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mertesacker, Santos, Gervinho, Arteta and Park = £50m + £33m this summer = £83m in 2 seasons.

We should just admit that Arsene is nowhere near as good in the transfer market as he used to be.

Other clubs are getting stronger all across Europe and in England as well. I mean few years back, We would be the favourites to land Silva not City. Get Aguero not City.

or get Gotze/Sahin from Dortmund since they were not even top 10 in bundesliga.

We took advantage when we could. It's just harder now

Arteta,Santos,Park,Mert would have never been at Arsenal if we had lost 8-2 after the window was closed.

Which manager sits there and allows his best players leave year after year?

Imo Wenger gets paid 7,5m to keep his mouth shut and take one for the board.

Bould shouted: "You've let us down and you've been letting us down all season." And Bould also roared: "None of you are taking responsibility."

It's about damn time.

Good, we don't need to bring the first team for a pointless game.

We have WBA at home next week, don't forget that's more important than finishing first in CL group.

Yeah, winning the group really isn't a priority right now. Certain players getting some rest ahead of a more important league game is.

We'll probably see:

Szczesny

Jenkinson --- Squillaci --- Vermaelen --- Meade

Coquelin --- Ramsey

Chamberlain --- Arshavin --- Gervinho

Chamakh

Subs: Shea, Angha, Hajrovic, Monteiro, Rosicky, Ansah, Akpom

I hope Chamakh has a hat-trick and Wenger starts playing him.

Still think we should at least try 4-4-2 or or a 4-3-1-2.

Anything that has 2 upfront.

If Miquel isn't injured, I would consider starting him ahead of Squid Laughing
