This isn't a bad idea... Play Downing against "lower" sides. Play Enrique in the "big" games. Downing can offer great width and decent passing from the fullback position, without feeling the pressure to score and create goals. It's certainly better than Johnson on the left and Kelly on the right. Johnson on the left contradicts the concept of having fullbacks provide the width, and Kelly is simply more of a RB/CB than a wing-back. He was ideal for Kenny's back-line. Not so much for Rodgers. I'm really hoping to see him make the Carra transition, and soon.

In any case, Downing won't get 7 goals and 7 assists like he did for Villa in 10/11, but I could actually see him getting a goal and an assist or two with limited appearances.
