Why can't Bilbao accept the bid from us directly, why should we give the money to Martinez to buy himself free, In any situation they will still pay tax. So why are they trying to milk us off 6million, that will not benefit them, the player wants to leave, they should let him go.

on a serious note they just don't want to sell him so what, Bayern is not any different than Bilbao (remember the Ribery saga )!!

Yes I remember Ribery saga, but why should we sell to a club that have equal power to us or maybe even better than. also Madrid didn't match our 80million evaluation of Ribery, I was not upset when Bilbao didnt accept our 30million bid earlier but I just find it confusing that we have matched their evaluation and the player release clause, still they wont accept it.
on top of that, Ribery just wanted a better contract and more money from us, he didnt contrbute 10million towards his transfer.

Hoeness: Bilbao are doing everything possible to stop Martinez from joining Bayern
The club official expressed his frustration with the Spanish club's persistent lack of willingness to cooperate in negotiations over a move for the young midfielder
Bongarts
Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has admitted that talks with Athletic Bilbao regarding the transfer of Javi Martinez have stagnated.
The retired striker is of the opinion that the Basques are deliberately raising obstacles to a potential deal, and the 60-year-old is hardly impressed with the Spanish club's obstinate approach.
"It looks at the moment that the transfer will not work out because the people in Bilbao are very, very stubborn and they are doing everything possible to prevent the transfer," he told N-TV.
"If the Athletic president was more willing to arrange a deal, he would accept €40 million rather quickly," he continued.
Despite meeting the 23-year-old's buy-out clause of €40 million, Bilbao have continued to resist a potential deal with Bayern even though the player himself has expressed a desire to make the switch.
"After learning that Martinez was happy to move, we felt that we could reduce our offer from €10 million per season to €8m.
"Still, it is a crazy amount. We feel we are able to do this because we feel that we have been right regarding the issues that have arisen," he concluded.

Re: Hoeness: Bilbao are doing everything possible to stop Martinez from joining Bayern The club offic
You know, if Bayern had actually met the buyout clause 100%, there is nothing Bilbao could do. That's why it's there to begin with. So Bayern is not meeting the clause and they want Bilbao to waive some aspect of it, which they are refusing to do.
This is like a hostile takeover in finance. You need to follow the rules to the letter because nobody is going to help you.
i don't see how you can blame Bilbao management here.
On the other hand, i think fans harassing Llorente is ridiculous, although not unique.

We are paying the 40 million cash now.
Martinez sees the heavy burden and in admirable loyalty accepts we reduce his wages from 10 million euros a year to 8 million euros for 5 years
to help us cusion off the heavy pay.
Bayern actually paying 40 million euros cahs...right now..
Athlethic Bilbao..iam upset, disturbed..suprised and greatly dissapointed in this behaviour of yours.

Bilbao cannot block a thing if 100% of the exit clause is met. It's pretty clear they're not going to take anything less. How hard is that to understand? So the problem is either that the clause isn't met or the player doesn't want to leave.... it's pretty clear that the issue that Bayern are not ready to meet the entire clause.

Bayern are treating this tax thing like it's some kind of loop hole. Tax added on to buyout clauses are not new and is the way these things are handled in Spain. It's the reason Aguero isn't a Madrid player right now as well and the reason why Madrid enquired about Martinez then decided not to take negotiations any further. If the club doesn't want to sell the buyout clause is there for you if you're serious.
Bayern have been trying to get in contact with Bilbao but they're not even picking up the phone then Bayern have the audacity to pretend that they are victims in all this.

To begin with Real Madrid and Bayern are equally matched club, both with great history and quality players, we both play in champions and in recent years, our last 2 meetings we've eliminated Madrid out of champions league and played final in their stadium as well as our stadium.
Now I'm not in anyways disrespecting Madrid or Bilbao, but if you can see it from a neutral point of view, why should Bayern sell Ribery to a club that we were better than and have the-same ambitious as us
Ribery wanted a better contract and was playing mind games about joining Madrid so he can get a pay rise, we offered him a pay rise and he accepted it and nothing was heard of Madrid again, Plus Zidane couldn't keep his mouth shout.
Martinez is offering to get a pay cut of 2million just so he can join us, it's a different scenario from =m Ribery's case
When Ribery was being chased by the big clubs a couple of years ago, Hoeness stated that for 50 million euros they would talk. I have no doubt that if Real Madrid or Barcelona had made such a bid, Hoeness would have been as good as his word. Urrieta effectively said the same about Martinez and the figure of 40 million, but has become rather coy now that Bayern have called his bluff. His word is not worth the air into which it was uttered.

Why should Bayern pay taxes to Spanish Government, did Manchester City pay any tax to Spanish government for Buying Aguero or Yaya Toure...?
Come on guys, we are clearly the victim here, Bilbao said they will accept 40million, so why are they going back against their words, asking Martinez to make the bid himself, that is stupid.
Why should we pay any taxes to Spain, over my dead body that we pay taxes to Spain, I rather it goes to court.

Aguero joined City because he wanted to play in the greatest league in the world, don't you dare pretend otherwise

Martinez wants to Join Bayern and play for the best football club in the world and not sugar daddy City, even Mancini confirmed it that he refused city and Martinez and his agent made it obvious that he wants to move to Bayern.
We agreed on 7million contract a year, however upon hearing that Bilbao wouldn't accept Bayern 30million bid, his agent told us he was willing to forfeit 2 million a year, making his wages 5million a year, just so he can move to Bayern and match his release clause of 40million that their president demanded in public.
Why is Bilbao treating their own player in this manner, someone that obvious want to leave the club and further his career, why is that they don't wish him good luck and let him have a better career in cpl, he obviously has refused to play in their stupid qualify match for Europa league, so just when the transfer materialize he can play for Bayern Munchen. edit (Champions league)
I mean we're not even legally obligated to pay any tax, the obligation will be on Martinez not Bayern, so why would you treat your own former player in such way...?
The only obvious explanation is that, Bilbao are doing everything possible to frustrate the transfer, for a number of different reason.
1: they only sign basque players and replacement for Javi will be impossible.
2: The election is approaching and their president who seem to be the only one holding the deal back is doing this for his own selfish interest. Martinez is not in their squad anymore, the manager won't play him, the fans don't want him, the only person blocking a deal is their president.
3: Because of the 1997 saga, involving Lizarazu Bilbao and Bayern and they are still butthurt about the whole situation

Why should we sell our best player to Madrid a club which was then FAR FAR inferior to us. They never even went past the CHL quarters for 5 years, won 0 trophies that year. They spend 250-300 Million Euros & got humiliated in CHL & wanted to play Finals in Santiago Bernabeu.
Instead we did the domestic double & played CHL final in their stadium.
Why on earth should we THEN sell Ribery to Madrid, which at that point was a FAR inferior Club. And we had the basic human courtesy to ACCEPT calls.
Ribery had no release clause. Pay us 100Million & then we might think if he does not extent. We are ready to pay MArtinez's 40M release clause but their president wont pick up the phone

At Bayern making the CL finals only to choke spectacularly is like a trophy
Haha this whole saga is hilarious, hopefully Bayern can learn something from it but sadly I doubt they will. I can see them going for Bender at the last minute and use the media to pressure the move.

Good point, Ribery had no exist clause I totally forgot about that.
Their president is doing this for his own selfish interest of the up coming election, he's scared that they might no re-elect him again if he sell Martinez, he doesn't care about how the player feels, how the fans feels, how the coach feels, he's doing everything for his own selfish interest and wouldn't pick up calls so we can finish off the deal.
What happened to his word of, we will only accept 40million release clause, did his balls fall off.
at the end of the day, they whole situation is sour for them, regardless of the outcome.
if he sell Martinez towards the ending of the season, there will be absolutely no time left for them to even think of buying any cover or whatsoever or make any reasonable adjustment.
if he doesn't, they will have an unhappy player, who the fans will PROBABLY boo and can longer play at his best.
at the end of it all, the player will still leave for a lesser amount, later rather than sooner.

We got there and there is prize money if you get there, and we kicked Madrid out on two occasion, just shout up and deal with the fact that we are better than you and when you get to the final you can come here and talk, we've done it on 2 occasion now
Also be afraid, especially if Martinez joins and we already have Pizarro.
