Reto Ziegler has confirmed “Juventus told me they rejected an offer from Benfica, but I hope it can be resolved as they are ideal for my style.”

The Swiss full-back made the revelation in an interview with Portuguese paper O Jogo.

“I haven’t spoken directly to the Portuguese directors, but I know they talked to Juve,” said Ziegler.

“Last week I had a discussion with the Bianconeri directors and they told me they rejected an offer from Benfica.

“I hope the situation can be resolved, because Benfica are ideal for my style of football.

“I don’t know why the negotiations didn’t reach a positive conclusion, nor what the figures were. Juventus wanted to sell me on a permanent basis, while Benfica preferred a loan with option to buy.”

Antonio Cassano passed his Inter medical, announced the doctor who performed it. “His heart is fine.”

The player had risked his life when he suffered an ischemic stroke on October 29, 2011, then underwent surgery to correct a congenital heart defect that had caused it.

“There are no problems compared to what was seen when he was at Milan,” Doctor Benazzo told Sky Sport Italia at the San Matteo di Pavia hospital.

“His heart is fine.”

The striker is ready to complete a transfer to Inter in exchange for Giampaolo Pazzini and €7m cash.

Cassano returned to football on April 7 and was able to take part in Italy’s Euro 2012 campaign.

Agreed, if there was a time to bump a bid up by 3 or 4 Million euros then now would be it. We finally after several years have a relatively clear path to a quality striker, just get it over and done with.

I like Marotta's style of business in getting driving a hard bargain for other areas of the pitch but we are desperate up top.
