what i find painful about football
i was watching the womens basketball in the olympics and some girl totally slammed into the wooden floor, actually looked painful. looked like she wanted to cry, but she got up in like 3 seconds and carried on. it really put into perspective how disgustingly accepted diving and playacting is in football

Even women's football at the Olympics has opened my eyes to how much playacting there is in the men's game.
Apart from a couple Japanese woman diving this tourney, most of the chicks that get fouled, get up and get on with it with no theatrics or dramatic falls.

And I'll watch women's football if it's the US.
And yeah it's not a great part of the game, but it's a part of it. People want to win, and people will do whatever it takes to win sometimes.

Diving needs to be dealt with at the youth level .. You can't have your kids thinking its ok to dive if it gives your team an advantage
There should be awards given out to the best divers at each level just to embarrass them.. 'FIFA Diver of the Year Award'

I do. They don't act like girls like the men when they get fouled. (One or two notable exceptions in the Brazilian team, plus Fatmire Bajramaj).Forza Rossoneri wrote:slightly related question: how many people here watch women's football?

I agree with OP.
There should totally be retrospective punishments for diving in football.

Be nice some women are greater than the males to be fair. For starters, i would take Alex Morgan over chicharito any day, she can actually do shit with the ball like dribble and playmake to go along with her poaching

Re: what i find painful about football
Are you comparing women's basketball to men's football?
Basketball is a sport where there are nearly no injuries caused directly by the opposition players. Womens hit softer.
Football is a sport with many injuries caused directly by the opposition (probably only surpassed by rugby and american football) and men hit much harder.

Is that your excuse for diving and play acting? Trust me, nobody wants to see Di Maria, Alves or Vidal on the ground for 5 minutes for every little contact, it's a disgrace.
Punish diving or play acting is the only way to prevent this, I'd personally give Busquets 10 match ban for his play acting on Motta vs inter in the semis, one match ban for diving for a free kick and three for a penalty, do this for a month and I promise diving will disappear.

It's not an excuse, it's a fact that contacts in men's football are much harder than women's basketball.
The way to cut playacting is force a player that is "injured" to stay in the side for at least 3 minutes. The way to cut diving is technology: instant replay for the 4th referee who can warn of dived penalties and fouls, and then book with a yellow card as stipulated. A yellow card is a just punishment for diving, as any other unsporting behaviour.
You would give 10 ban match for Busquet's playacting in the midfield and 3 match ban for someone who dives a penalty? Biased much?
