thats ridiculous......at least half of that money could have been used for better thingsBiasedMilanFan3 wrote:Barrettinator wrote:Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! This music haunted me all day until I found it.
I was so proud last night. I learnt the total cost of the opening ceremony £27M. Totally worth it, imo. Its already the best opening ceremony I have ever seen.
And apparently the cost of the entire Olympics is 16bil

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
If all money raised from the Olympic games had gone to charity then yeah i'd agree but since its a world premiere sporting event that comes along once every 4 years... ehhhh

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
London is making money in the long run off the Olympics anyway they'll recover alot of the money they spent through the short term tourism , sponsorships and such. Money could not be better spent , there's guaranteed return here.
16 billion is a deceptive figure, the facilities they built will be serviceable for a long long time and will definitely be used seeing as it's freaking London.

^ Nah they looked alright actually. The only bad sight was the slow-motion of the woman hyper-extending her arm

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
I'm watching Water Polo, this is the first time I've seen it really. They dribble with their face
And handball is entertaining to watch after seeing more of it, but still the skill level is not that high imo... At least compared to football, basketball, baseball, hockey, swimming, track, archery, etc. If handball is in, they should add dodgeball...

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
I was just watching men's Water Polo and Fencing, great entertainment
And both are sports I never watch apart from the Olympics (although probably would watch Water Polo if there was a chance for that).

Sabre fencing I had not seen much before either. But it was quite entertaining. Too bad the guy from the U.S. couldn't advance.

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
Aron Szilagyi got the gold for us in fencing, our first gold at this Olympics.
Serbia beat us in Water Polo but we played like shit.. i still think we'll get at least bronze in it. If we get gold, it would be the 4th consecutive gold for Hungary's mens team, which would be insane (2004, 2008 , 2012(i hope)
I've been really impressed with the olympics in London so far

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
Dmize, which teams did you watch play? the 4 best teams must be Denmark, Spain, France and Croatia. But yeah the skill level is not that of football and basketball, because the top talents usually start playing football in Denmark, and in Spain i think Basketball and Football are also way more popular.
Though popularity wise, Handball could be more popular in Denmark than football, that really pains me

I watched Norway-France.
I think this sport looks pretty fun, too bad it's not too popular:

Opening Cermony was nice. A bit wierd with the 'queen jumping off' as that was set in the day and the opening cermony was set in the night... Soccer has been enjoyable to watch especially Brazil... GOAT Olympic team

Sport looks kind of wack lol. Seems as though there's five different ways of scoring, from dunking to throwing the ball into the net.
