Not sure about his form but the closest you can get to Márquez is Hummels.

Definately be an option. He reads the game superbly, decent in the air and is quite physical. Yes his passing is a down side though 4-6 weeks of Barca sessions should do the trick. Agger atm is centre of attention... Reports seem to dip down on Martinez since he said that he wanted to stay...

I would definitely take Musacchio. I mean, he makes mistakes, but for his age, he is very experienced. If we don't get him, I hope a big club eventually signs him.

I'd like Musacchio but he is not the solution to our problems. If we bring in Musacchio, we still need to bring in another world class CB.

In no world is Musacchio a world class CB, for as young and good as he is.

A cheap and good investment for the future? Yes.

A solution to our defensive problems? No.

World class is what we need and though he has good elements for a central defender, he still isnt classified as world class. On any day I would pick Barta or Muniesa than Murri because both them have his qualties as well as good ball distirbution. Agger, Vermealen etc are world class centre backs. Prefer we get them than Murri.

Reports are Tito only wants Javi Martinez and if he can't get him he'll just use Bartra and Fontas.

Its coming from a Madrid report. I doubt it though apparently the player has said he wants to leave the club... 5 days ago he said he wanted to stay now he apparently wants to go... Barta is a good young defender though we need a world class defender. If Martinez is our only option (which he isn't) then I would be partly satisfied though he isn't. Better off with Vermealan or Agger or Kosielney...

Its coming from the Barcelona based sports media, not Madrid. Take any rumour with a pinch of salt, but this wasn't from Madrid and its not all that unbelievable. The rumours with other players have been unconvincing, whereas for Javi its clear we want him and price is our obstacle. What we were hoping was we'd just get someone cheaper... hopefully we do.

Oh and Martinez never said anything about not wanting to come to Barca, that was made up and Marca was asked to remove it from his interview.

For a team normally with a lot of foreigners, we have a lot of Spaniards/Catalans in the team atm...

Atletic Club Mark II is what were becoming, spanish players only. Not that I mind, its a good period for Spanish Football with loads of good young players around.

I think it's pretty obvious Tito doesn't trust a cantera CB. Otherwise he would have just promoted Bartra when TS and Javi didn't work out. I think regardless of the quality we're going to buy one.

I'm pretty sure Spanish newspapers don't have much to write about and they've started making up stories. Barcelona have been very quiet about their transfer plans this season. Apart from Martínez, none of the news regarding linked players should be taken seriously.

What do you mean? Bartra is already promoted...

I mean put more trust in him than he has already shown. So far at interviews he's said "We are looking for a CB, Javi Martinez fits the profile, but so do many other footballers". At no point did he actually say "if we don't find someone of great quality available we will go look into the cantera".

He did say exactly that BC, he said if we can't find a solution we will look to the cantera. He reiterated it about 5 times in his press conference. I'm pretty damn sure.

Here's a question. Would you guys want Javi or rather us use Bartra and Fontas and save money which could be used next season?

If there is no other option, I would opt for giving Bartra a chance if we would otherwise buy Javi for 40M.

Yep, would rather Bartra than Martinez.

At the least the guy is a centerback and has mobility. Soft and weak in the tackle, but none the less...Its not even about saving money to me (though that is a additonal factor) its simply Javi isnt a centerback and doesnt actually play that well back there.

thought that the best player you had been linked with so far was Agger.

you will never replace Puyol's leadership, but Agger is a great CB. he was tied best with Pepe for me at the end of the group stage during the euros. oh well, i am happy with less competency in your squad

If we can't get a top CB (Martinez isn't), then we'd best go for Bartra. He is faster than most CB and is already one of the best ball playing CB in the world.

If we could add him more intensity and improve his tackle, he would be a monster.

I have no doubt all 3 of Bartra, Muniesa and Fontas will improve. Centre-back is a position you have to gain experience in to improve. The higher they step up the better they'll get and Bartra can work on his tackling and will no doubt improve.

Bartra is great on the ball, thats for sure.

I agree, I would also rather him over Martinez.

Does Tito want to use a 4-2-3-1 formation with two holding midfielders by any chance? We are linked/rumoured with many holding midfielders and Tito has said that he would like a centre back who can also play as a holding midfielder.
