Except Bendtner knowingly broke the sponsorship rules. Pretty sure Paddy Power paid him to ''advertise'' for them and the fine probably reflects the money he made doing it. At the very least it should be making money off of the Euro's as a player is unfair practise and against the rules.

Fining clubs for the behaviour of fans which is not exactly in their complete control is very hard thing to rationalise. However I do think something should be done in terms of punishing them in a sporting sense (points deduction etc) that might stop fans because they don't want to hurt their team.

Basically it's easy to put on a number on teh fine for Bendtner because he probably made money off of it. It's harder to fine for racism because how do you put a number on that for a fine?

Having said all that suspending Bendtner for a game is ridiculous no matter how you look at it.

I get it in the sense that it's much easier to keep players from flashing forbidden sponsorship logos and texts than it is eradicating racism from football crowds. Players could be lured to such personal sponsorship stunts if punishments for that weren't severe enough.

No it isn't FFS. If people stopped to think about it it actually makes perfect sense.

People just want to be outraged like they get paid for it.

UEFA fines: £45,000 Spain 2004 (racism); £16,500 Serbia 2007 (racism); £10,000 Croatia 2008 (racism). €100,000 Bendtner (exposing pants).

he was showing pants that have to do with betting, and you're not allowed to do that and he knew it and he was fined

and the thing with racism is that you cant find all of them and if you do they simply ban them from future tournaments and fine the country(eventho they have done nothing wrong) for something some immature fans do in the stands, believe me if someone where to be found guilty of racism on the pitch while in an Uefa game expect them to be slapped not only with a hefty fine but banned for a considerable amount of time as well

Seriously.. You can't compare racist fines and Bendtner's fine because the two are totally different cases.

Uefa already Fined Russia 150k for their fans behaviour and now are fining them another 38k

I think Croatia are about to get a big fine/Points deduction for monkey chants at Balo

Also...Porto fans were not chanting anything racist, despite the fine.
