Re: Group D: France vs England discussion
the french team in weird, why no martin?
why is nasri playing when nobody in france wants him to play because he slows the tempo down?
why isnt clichy playing, when evra has been soo poor?

Re: Group D: France vs England discussion
Clichy for Evra and Ben Arfa for Malouda. Those are the only 2 changes i would make right now.
M'Vila will start over Diarra in the next game.
If Mexes fails today, Koscielny takes over.

Nasri looked great in the friendlies, clearly combines well with Ribery , Benzema etc, I think Ben Arfa might be a better option but definitely not Menez.

Re: Group D: France vs England discussion
Hodgson has failed here, I'm afraid. Like DontTreadyReddie suggested, Welbeck has been handed a start just because he scored one goal, but this is a game where Carroll's abilities would have been much more needed (lay-off and hold-up play).
Welbeck is not going to see the ball.
Also France's midfield will run rings around Gerrard-Parker for fun. I thought Hodgson would have a little more cojones, but no.
I hope I'm as wrong as I can ever be, though.

Decent first half, yes. France started to gain more and more control towards the end.

Debuchy has been France's best player.

Re: Group D: France vs England discussion
Not many complaints. OK first half from both sides.
Hart and Lloris both could have done better, but in defense of Hart he saw it late. Good strike from Nasri though.
Debuchy is doing great attacking wise too.

Re: Group D: France vs England discussion
I felt we were vastly superior but England defended very well.
It is a disappointing result, because we deserved the victory and had a lot more opportunity. We only conceded on England only opportunity, on a long range set piece.
Blanc should have launched Giroud, he could have unlocked the situation. Benzema was not useful in this match.

yeah i change my opinion he was better in the second half, i just hated the way welbeck was bossing him in the first half. but france kept hold of the ball better. keep rami and max for now.

Re: Group D: France vs England discussion
Carroll was needed. Okay, I'm not saying he is world-class, but as it could be foreseen and as it happened, England greated very little on the ground through the middle. Welbeck offered next to nothing. At least with Carroll those long balls and crosses would look like an OK decision.
But, everything is nicely open in this group now. Sweden to top it?

Re: Group D: France vs England discussion
I don't know why Benzema sits deep instead of running behind the strikers.
Blanc should have introduced Giroud at half time ffs
It was annoying as hell to see him sit so deep, THAT is not how you unlock a PTB team...
Hopefully this doesn't screw our chances of qualifying...

Re: Group D: France vs England discussion
no way dude, welbeck was fantastic. he held the ball up well and his movement caused the french defence some problems. carroll would of just stood there and would have been easy to mark.
