Robin van Persie’s father dropped a hint the Arsenal hero could join Juventus by ruling out Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The Dutchman has been heavily linked with a switch to Turin over the summer, though faced competition from Europe’s other top clubs.

“It would make no sense to go to Barcelona when they’ve already got Leo Messi,” Bob van Persie told El Mundo Deportivo.

“Real Madrid would be a good option, but they are not so much a team as a collection of star names, so he wouldn’t really fit in there either.

“He’d never go to Manchester City, as it’s impossible he would play for another Premier League side that wasn’t Arsenal.”

This is vastly reducing the options, so if van Persie were to leave the Gunners, it seems as if Juventus would be the prime candidates to open a new chapter in his career.

The Dutch international is currently preparing for Euro 2012 and turns 29 in August.

He has been with Arsenal since 2004 and his current contract expires in June 2013.

though I'd gladly accept this move [if it is TRUE] and even happened, I feel that if we are buying him to be the bomber of a striker that we need then between him and Cavani, I'd splash on Cavani instead and have Giovinco/Vucinic swapping roles for SS.

No doubt Van Persie is a proven name than both of them combined, but he is I guess 28 or almost and also injury-prone and knowing Serie A is a lot more robust than England, would it be worth splashing $20m+ on him for him to be out for almost half the season?

anyway I doubt he would leave Arsenal anyway, just a ploy to get a better deal I guess....

I think the point was that he dismissed every other team that may have been rumored to RVP, but didn't dismiss Juve as a possibility. Not a strong rumor towards him going to Juve, but that's about all we're going to get for the next few weeks until Euros finish.

Maybe he didn't mention Juventus because he doesn't think of Juve as a viable destination for his son...

I don't think so. I think that he is almost certain to return to Arsenal. If he doesn't, I could easily see him coming to Juve. He wants to be the featured CF on a team. If Juve pays him enough, I think he would take that option over other teams where he wouldn't be guaranteed the number spot each game.

If he does leave arsenal that will leave germany and Italy anyone see bayern in the mix ?

If van Persie decides to leave, he will join Juventus I'm pretty sure. Bayern München is winning just as much as Arsenal nowadays
