Re: Brendan Rodgers new Liverpool manager
Most deluded fanbase in the World.
They haven't been relevant for years now yet keep insisting they are.
Spuds have already overtaken them. If Cabaye & Pardeux keep signing the Cisse's and Debuchy's of this world it won't be long before Newcastle do as well.

The only person I'd take in that squad is Suarez. Even Gerrard is aging a lot faster than Lamps did when Lamps was his age.
Want more?Won't be able to attract many top players that's for sure!
Bullshit. Chelsea have just attracted a top player this week and they don't even have apermanent manager!
The prospect - nay PROMISE - of playing attractive, attacking Barca-type footy is enough for most players to want to join us.

We need to prove that tbh, with europe this year and a reasonably small squad if we dont keep improving we will go back where we were pretty fast.
Maybe if we finish 5th again and go far in europe and fa cup and Liverpool keep standing still then possibly.

Re: Brendan Rodgers new Liverpool manager
Only the DoF would be directly involved with the manager, the others would only advise the DoF and manager.lenear1030 wrote:They said Martinez turned it down because they wanted to put 3 guys in Damien Comolli's role over him, and he wouldn't go for that....
Anyways, does this mean Liverpool will play tiki taka?
Yea, the owners wanted a young manager that can potentially be in place for a decade or more and hopefully bring an attractive style of play while working with a DoF.NiallQuinnsdiscoPants wrote:Reminds me of the Hodgson appointment.
Gonna stick a few quid on at bookies for him to be sacked by Christmas.
Dont think he is a big enough name for Liverpool fans, think he will have a hard time working with bigger name players, Garrard and Carra rule the roost there. Then he has to try and form some kind of working relationship with Suarez.
Liverpool fans still think they area top 4 team, I cant help but ask my self if Rodgers would have even been considered to take over the like of UTD, City, Chelsea. Arsenal.
After a few defeats the fans will have the candles out demanding for an enquiry into why Rafa wasnt brought back when he already knows the Liverpool way.
I can see how Rodgers, who fits those criteria is the same as Hodgson, a stop-gap appointment by a club almost in administration who's "37 years of managerial experience" showed one very particular and negative style of play.

It means that we still have the bragging rights over them for pounding their asses. I don't care if Chelsea is better than us at beating Wolves and QPR's of the Premier League, if your team can't beat us don't come over here and insult us.

The best thing he could have done for Liverpool.
So you hire his side kick instead?
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Pointless argument really.
Pointless how?
Martinez is a better coach than Rodgers, both in football philosophy and personality.
Rodgers inherited Martinez's team and style. Martinez wanted control but didn't get it so he declined so after Batman said no you went for Robin lol
(Disclaimer: I like Rodgers and hope he does well, England needs more managers like him)

Re: Brendan Rodgers new Liverpool manager
Was he? Were you in the room or are you taking sporadic and unconfirmed reports as gospel? Martinez was also made an offer AFTER Rodgers initially said he wished to stay with Swansea... so perhaps Martinez was merely a back-up and when he made it clear he wanted full control the owners went back and pushed the boat out for their initial target?
Or perhaps both managers were on equal footing and the fact that Martinez didn't want to work with a DoF while Rodgers seems more open to it was what tilted the situation in Rodgers' favour.
Hell, maybe Alf was the real plan and he turned them down to start a career as a Las Vegas showgirl! Fact of the matter is, no-one knows anything more than that Martinez was interviewed but Rodgers appears to have gotten the job. Anything more than that is speculation and to make judgements and claims based on it without qualifiers, as you have done, is foolish and ignorant in equal measure.

You don't have to, everything he said pretty much seemed accurate.
The meeting in Miami, that they approached Rodgers, that Martinez would only take the job if he could be in control.
So maybe you should ease off next time before calling someone foolish or ignorant.
(BTW Even Alf won't be able to get Pool to 4th sadly )
