Barretinator, Arsenal has made the most comebacks in the league and Champions League this season. It's like a joke everywhere "Arsenal can't score without conceding first" lol. The Milan match tells u all.
This team is obviously talented and with some new additions as Podolski and hopefully M'Vila - we can win it. It only takes to not sell our best players this season and get some new additions.

Americano Roma probably has more money than either of those clubs now.

Genoa, Bologna, Torino and Pro Vercelli (aka: who?) all have more Serie A titles than Roma. How are Roma considered to be more prestigious than these?

Re: Biggest clubs who have yet to win the European Cup/Champions League
They have won their titles more recently + have more supporters + have more resources + are in a big city + are always considered contenders for the Serie A titleBarrileteCosmico wrote:Genoa, Bologna, Torino and Pro Vercelli (aka: who?) all have more Serie A titles than Roma. Genoa finished just outside relegation, Bologna is a mid-table team that will probably get relegated without Di Vaio next season, Torino just got promoted now and will be in Serie A next season, Pro Vercelli is in the third tier league (formerly known as Serie C1)
Roma is more prestigious and this is consistent with my point in a previous post, that is, being a 'big' club is not a purely historical label. You have to be relevant in the present day to continue being 'big'.

A team which didn't make its mark in history in European competitions can't be considered big club.

Re: Biggest clubs who have yet to win the European Cup/Champions League
I disagree. I think it's important to make a distinction between clubs that were big and clubs that are big.Immortal Babun wrote:A team which didn't make its mark in history in European competitions can't be considered big club.

Nottingham Forest was big. Roma are big.
In saying that, there are different levels of 'big'...
Milan, Madrid, Bayern, Ajax, Man U, Barca, etc. have European history which gives these clubs a greater reputation now. Man City has no prestigious history, but they are still a team that deserves to be taken seriously and we'd all be delusional to say that being the current EPL winners doesn't have a big reputation boost associated with it.
Are they a 'big' club? Yes. Will history remember them as a 'big' club if they don't win the Champions League? No. You're right about that.

@Forza
That's the difference. If you want to talk about big clubs in present then you have to see how strong and consistent they are, not some BS history etc. comparison. Chelsea is one of strongest tournament teams, no history will change this fact.
If you're talking about the big clubs of the past then you have to look at trophies won. Runner ups etc. don't matter.

From Italy, Roma, Samp, Napoli (should have won it when Maradona was there) and possibly Fiorentina.

German teams in the late 90s-early 00's were on a roll
Borussia winners in 1997, then again SF's in 1998, Bayern runner's up in 99 and SF's in 2000 and then winners in 2001 and then Leverkusen runners up in 2002.
Amazing period for German clubs.

For it is Roma, Psg, Valencia, Lyon, and Arsenal who are the biggest traditional clubs without a CL title.

You consider Nottingham Forest a bigger club than Arsenal, Roma and Valencia?

Re: Biggest clubs who have yet to win the European Cup/Champions League
IIRC they were a bit too risky in spending at that time. Nowadays they are not allowed to overspend anymore as especially Dortmund did in that time.Crimson wrote:German teams in the late 90s-early 00's were on a rollrwo power wrote:Dortmund also won one CL (1997) and totally sank afterwards. I really hope that the prudent BL model will now start to bear fruit again, and with Bayern in the final twice the in last 3 years plus Schalke in the CL semi two years ago, things don't look too bad.
