Re: Hoeness launches attack on the plastic clubs
Don't they call them plastic clubs because plastic is made of oil and they have billions of oil money invested in them???
Salary Cap is a bit unfair in football because there is no opportunity to draft players like in US sports, so the big clubs pick all the best players.
But financial stability and regulations have to be placed on clubs like city, who spend way too much, it's not even fun. As someone mentioned, the analogy of cheating in a computer game.

Re: Hoeness launches attack on the plastic clubs
I'd say you're a bit like Barca to be honest....nothing like Arsenal.
I doubt any German team has outspent you in the last 10 years . In fact i'd be suprised if another German team has brought in a player for plus 20 million in a while.

Bayern are the German Manchester United.
Absolutely hated in their country for many of the same reasons.
My Dortmund friend was telling me all about it the other day .

I've been to the Etihad, the only thing plastic there are the seats.
Maybe this will change over time but Man City's support and fans are as real as it gets imo.

This great and all how he voiced the opinion many people share regarding 'oil money' clubs, but just imagine the butthurt he'd feel if Chelsea defeat Bayern in the final in their own stadium....

I hope more billionaires come and buy more clubs and make them beat Bayern just to shut people like Hoeness up.

So you'd like to see Barca bought by some billionaire to be used as that person's personal plaything?kiranr wrote:I hope more billionaires come and buy more clubs and make them beat Bayern just to shut people like Hoeness up.

Rwo if you worked your way to a 13 billion dollar fortune and you saw a stuggling Rwo in the 5th division in Germany, what would you do? would you try to push them to success through financial support or would you just leave them there and let them struggle?

I wouldn't like it if it was used as a personal play thing. But which investor has done that till now? I don't see any club being used in that manner. An investment into these clubs is a huge amount of money. These rich people, no matter how much money they have, don't like to waste their money. They are serious about their clubs just like Hoeness is serious about Bayern.
Let us assume that a club is made into a play thing. If it was the club that i support, i would speak out against it. But what business does Hoeness have commenting about what other clubs are doing?

It's a bit funny because the Bundesliga is financially "healthy" for the same reason that RBS is - state handouts from the public purse.

Re: Hoeness launches attack on the plastic clubs
I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with billionaires spending so big, it's the only way the status quo changes. Presidents of big clubs are pissed because the rules of the games have changed under them.
About the inflation of prices: if you think the player you're buying is too inflated, then simply don't buy him and focus on spotting them before they become inflated.

I love how a Cyprian Arsenal fan ignorantly puts all City fans into a collective group because of one's opinion.Lex wrote:I love how City fans confuse disgust with envy

Re: Hoeness launches attack on the plastic clubs
Firstly, what's a Cyprian?
Secondly, it's not ignorant at all. Since City won the title and i've expressed my outrage, all i've gotten back from "1950's die 'ard" City fans is "you're just jealous, mate"
It's not just one person's opinion. It's the general consensus amongst y'all

Re: Hoeness launches attack on the plastic clubs
Arsenal and Bayern are the most identical clubs in Europe, I'll rather people compare us with Arsenal than with Barcelona.
Over the last 5years or so, I'm sure Arsenal have spend more money than we did, but Barca is way way above, season after season Bayern Munich and Arsenal keep on making profit while still being able to challenge in Europe, Domestic cup and league.
For straight 19years Bayern have made profit and this year will obviously make it 20 straight season, also we've made profit in 29seasons out of 30.
Arsenal groom their own players just like us, the only difference between Bayern and Arsenal, is that they are sometimes not able to keep their top player, and I think this is as a result of grooming young foreign players, unlike Bayern were we developed German youth and neighbouring countries like Turkey, Austria etc, who are not only attach to them footballing wise, but also they feel at home.
Whose fault is it that other German Club can not buy anyone, compare us to other top European clubs and U'll see we buy reasonably

Why do Bayern tap players up and try to get them on the cheap?

Re: Hoeness launches attack on the plastic clubs
Bayern purchase from the German market, which is well calibrated due to the lack of cash overload.
Their signings come at reasonable prices, but they still spend more than any competitor.
Arsenal are like Dortmund, they develop players like Kagwa from nothing.
