Berlusconi is one of the richest men in the world. Milan could outbid just about anyone if they wanted. It's just not their MO. Uncle Fester is always looking for bargains. I read something the other day that said Milan wants to convince Van Persie to play out his contract and move to Milan on a free transfer next year with an astronomical salary. Probably made up, but made up by somebody who knows how they usually operate. But as long as Berlusconi owns the club, the money is there if they really want it. Every now and then Silvio gives the club a "gift."

Sounds like something we would do. Except we go and get Chamakh not a world class talent.

We have been lie to for years, we have the richest owner in football as our second owner and now one is taking any of his money to bring in some WC players.

Re: RvP Contract Talks
Judging by Arsenal's past dealings,i highly doubt they would want to let go of a player on a free no matter how important he is to the team.
Money comes first before anything i guess.

Haven't commented on this topic on here before now.
What I juz wanna say is, I know the situation.....how RvP broke the news without the club knowing and err'thing. So I juz wanna make my feeling AND thoughts clear: Robin van Persie should juz leave Arsenal FC as soon as possible!
P.S. Though I want some good money for him

Mirror: Van Persie has returned to London & will hold more talks with Wenger & Gazidis. Walcott talks also expected. - http://bit.ly/M8p5VI

jamie Sanderson @YoungGunsBlog
The Arsenal fall-out continues. Aaron Ramsey says players 'have no idea' what's going with van Persie. It's shocked whole club.

Now van Persie can pretend he never made that statement, sign a new contract and play forever with Arsenal

Re: RvP Contract Talks
BSStand by your beds.Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth claims a well-placed source is telling him there are echoes of the Wayne Rooney situation about the Robin van Persie statement and that it's not set in stone he'll be leaving the club. Guess that's one to watch...
We will wait and see how this one plays out with Sky Sports sources understanding Robin van Persie could sign a new contract at Arsenal after all despite making a statement to the contrary.

Re: RvP Contract Talks
When Gallas made certain comments in the press, he was stripped of the captaincy. Van Persie has done pretty much the same thing, thus he should be stripped of the captaincy as well.
I don't know how fans would react if he signed on, but I'll be indifferent towards him.

Re: RvP Contract Talks
No one liked Adebayor after the 07/08 season, however RVP is a bit different. Which means that People will not like RVP as much as they did before his statement, however he won't be disliked to an extreme level either.
Like jay i would be indifferent. However he won't be in my top 3 fav list. Unless he does something extraordinary

Re: RvP Contract Talks
Personally, I just want an apology and an explanation of what the feck he was thinking when he posted that statement on his site.
His captaincy should be put under consideration though, like jay said, Gallas was stripped for something very similar.
