Enrique out and Montella in?
By Football Italia staff
Vincenzo Montella is being linked with a return to Roma as reports suggest that Luis Enrique will quit at the end of the season.
The Spanish tactician replaced Montella at the Olimpico last summer, but results and performances have been mixed.
Roma’s inability to secure a Europa League place means that they have failed to qualify for European competition for the first time in 15 years.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Enrique has already informed the club of his desire to resign. An official announcement could be made on Sunday or Monday.
Should Enrique leave, reports on Wednesday are claiming that they may offer Montella the chance of a capital return.
The former striker has impressed onlookers at Catania this season in his first full campaign as a top-flight tactician.
The Sicilian club, however, want the ex-Sampdoria hitman to respect his contract that expires in June 2013.
If Montella does leave, the Elefanti may make a bid for Chievo Coach Mimmo Di Carlo.
Other options for Roma include Bologna’s Stefano Pioli after he spoke to Giallorosso sporting director Walter Sabatini last summer.
Meanwhile, director general Franco Baldini is a known admirer of Andres Villas-Boas, the Portuguese tactician who was sacked by Chelsea this term.

Baldini has offered a two year Montella?
Franco Baldini and Vincenzo Montella close agreement for the next two years ?
As reported by calciomercato.it today was going to stage an encounter between impotantissimo Baldini and Vincenzo Montella: The Director General of Rome would have treated her engagement Montella, offering a two year deal. The agreement seems close. According to reports from Sky, however, things would be different: Roma Montella was blocked for 15 days.

Re: Enrique out and Montella in ?
I'm back on my Pioli train, hopefully he can bring Diamanti with him. Get it right this time guys. It doesn't have to be the huge name.
Plus, lets be honest, how many of you here want the fans to turn on Montella and see him fired? Not me. (Not saying it would for sure happen, just playing Devils advocate a bit)

Montella scraps press conference
By Football Italia staff
Catania Coach Vincenzo Montella has fuelled reports of an imminent move to Roma by cancelling tomorrow’s press conference.
The tactician has been heavily linked with a return to the Olimpico as replacement for Luis Enrique now that the Spaniard’s departure is official.
He was due to answer questions from the media ahead of Sunday night’s final match of the season against Udinese.
However, it was today announced there will not be a press conference on Saturday.
It’s a surprising move, considering the match is very high-profile, as a win over Udinese would blow the race for Champions League qualification wide open.

Re: Enrique out and Montella in ?
That's probably a smart move in cancelling the press conference. Journalists will only ask him about Roma rather than the game vs Udinese.
I wouldn't complain if Montella comes back, love the guy. He wouldn't be my first choice, but my first choice is coaching the national team so I doubt he'll come now. My only worry is about Baldini. I don't think he'll admit defeat but he's going to be criticized for defending Enrique to this point. He would be able to deal with it, but for him to go back to Montella could be taken as a sign of admitting he was wrong in the first place.
In the end, Montella would be the only choice that makes our management happy. Sabatini wants an Italian, Baldini wants an offensive coach so as not to scrap the work we did this year.
