Re: Arsenal players at Olympic games 2012
Podolski looked way too isolated on the left and never made any good runs cutting in, for the whole tournament.

Gah, well firstly, SBS didn't screen any good games, secondly the ones it did screen conflicted with school and things so I only got to watch the final ... then as I was getting fatigued, my cat crawled onto my lap so I couldn't splash water on my face and wake myself up ... basically sleeping through the last half hour .RealGunner wrote:So you all enjoyed the euros ?

With you mate. I want to swear so badly at those ruddy Italians. Germany has to take the blame for the shite performance at the semis though. If they had continued their usual performance level, they should have won the damn tournament. But now, its another 2 year wait. God, its almost as frustrating as Arsenal sometimes!

Aaron Ramsey came on as a sub in the second half. He tried to make things happen and showed some good touches on the ball. Decent performance.

Hey guys, Ramsey came on, and has been excellent. Played some great passes and set-up Sordell when he hit the bar.

Re: Arsenal players at Olympic games 2012
It might just be the different tactics, but in the two sub appearance he's made for GB so far, I've noticed that Ramsey doesn't dwell on the ball as much as he did last year and seems more willing to make a simpler, more sensible pass whilst still trying to create chances.
When he came on tonight, one of the first things he did was play an excellent ball to the flank. Then he carved open Senegal from a pass within his own half (shame Sordell was offside). Later on, he turned a Senegal defender and cut the ball back with his left foot. Last season, he would have cut back onto his right and dallied on the ball.
It's risky to judge on a couple of sub appearances, but I do see improvement from him. He's a bit more decisive with what he wants to do with the ball.

I blame the centre backs more than Ramsey. And Richards nonchalantly running along the offside line while Senegal were counter attacking was lulzy

How could Ramsey fail when he has such unconditional support from his adoring Gunners?

Re: Arsenal players at Olympic games 2012
Ramsey can hardly be blamed for one pass cutting out three GB defenders, either.
Sure, an argument could be made that had Ramsey not given the ball away, the centre backs would not have been so stranded high up the pitch while Senegal countered.
However, Great Britain were naive. There wasn't long to go in the game, but the defenders still went up for the corner. If they had read the situation better, they would have stayed back, and Great Britain would have kept a better shape so as to not get caught on the break.
One player did give the ball away, but he cannot be held accountable for the naivety of certain players and the ineptness of the manager.

I would lose count counting the amount of times Giggs lost the ball on an inbred's hands and toes

Re: Arsenal players at Olympic games 2012
Ramsey seems to have improved you say?
Lets see. How old is he? Oh right. 22? And what happens to players when they are 22? They improve. They mature. They play regularly and gain experience and learn. They stop making mistakes.
Ffs, people need to stop jumping to conclusions. This lad was doing an admirable job of filling in Cesc's boots till people started jumping on his back for smallest of errors and the Wales manager's untimely death. That coincided with Rozza hitting god form, making Ramsey look more shite.
Take pressure off him and you will see what he is capable of. I rate him highly still. Haters gonna hate, be in Ramsey or Theo or Mertesacker.

Re: Arsenal players at Olympic games 2012
Players don't always improve and mature when they're young, though. Many young players have a rough time of it and never completely recover.
Ramsey did have issues last season and the fact is he has to improve this year. People aren't hating or jumping to conclusions when they say that. Yes, some of the criticism has been ridiculous and completely unwarranted (plenty of examples in this forum), but some have been justifiable.
As much as people were being harsh and as much as we want to give players the benefit of the doubt, we should not turn a blind-eye to apparent faults in a player.
Not many have said that Ramsey won't ever improve and is a lost cause. A lot of us want him to improve and think he will.
