Why do English Clubs start so late?
Bayern is wrapping up the last of it's contract extensions (Robben has signed) throughout the year, It's been known for a long time that Oliç is is going to Wolfsburg and with Shaqiri and Dante having been signed + all contract extensions wrapped up Bayern are looking to finish their transfers for this summer before the Euros with a striker (Higuain, Berbatov, Pizarro, Giroud,) with possible interst in Belhanda and Hildebrand.
Arsenal are jsut starting with their contract talks with RvP now... What do you guys prefer - transfers wrapped up early? Or the mystery of leaving negotiations until late?

Well, Bayern obviously like to wrap up their deals early as they always plan long-term and don't do any emergency buys. I guess that allows them to get actually better deals with lower prices than if they'd wait to the very end when the market is already rather empty.

LOL WUT ? It's May lol the window does'nt open for another month
If it gets to the end of July and the situation is still the same you might have a point.
But the current season is'nt even over yet lol.

Bayern Munich just got into the habit of starting early because the league was wrapped up with two months to go so they only had the transfer window to worry about. /trollolol
I believe that both for fans and players, early negotiations are always beneficial. Managing the atmosphere in a dressing room is vital and eliminating uncertainty breeds confidence in the project amongst the playing group when they're given concrete reassurance of the stability of the playing group.
It also means that you can exercise greater control over your transfer policy when you know precisely which areas of the squad you need to focus your resources on, instead of the nagging thought of needing someone only if a certain player departs.
The need to establish chemistry and give players the best chance to perform from the very start is very important and it's why I'll always prefer early moves such as FCB have achieved with Shaqiri and Dante.

All this shows Bayern has no respect for the clubs they are buying from by announcing deals weeks before the season is done

By German standards, Bayern are real dicks on the transfer market. By international standards, they're humble and respectful. It's really a matter of perspective.

Re: Why do English Clubs start so late?
Bayern usually dip into the German market because of the underrated players around and value.
But lately clubs have been targeting the BL for the same reason... so it makes sence making their moves early on before other clubs get there.
There's also the fact that Bayern are a very well established squad in no need of major rehauling, so the board already knows what is needed. These signings have mostly been depth signings.

Re: Why do English Clubs start so late?
Pre contract agreements can cause unrest in a squad because some players may start to question what their future holds if they are unsure.
Also, it is up to the club/player to go public with the deal before an actual transfer window, so sometimes clubs pretty much know who they're going to buy ... even before the transfer window opens. They just keep it a secret.
This summer is the Euros, so you will see a lot of clubs trying to make their purchases before. You will also see clubs panic buying after a player has a good showing in the Euros as well.

And because it weakens the direct competition. :X

At least lately they've lately tried growing talent instead of simply buying it.
Plus you can't deny the Bayern chemistry that shows up in the NT.
