ANZHI MAKHACHKALA
often labelled the ''Russian Chelsea'', the club from Dagestan is backed by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, and his plan is to establish Anzhi as one of the major superpowers of European football.
There is a big possibility that they could qualify for the next season's Champions League.
There is no doubt that they are making the Russian Premier League better by signing big stars, and with the competitive nature of the other Moscow Clubs and Zenit, the league is getting better and better each year. But what about European football in general?
Is the rise of Anzhi good or bad for European football?

Re: ANZHI MAKHACHKALA
Before they changed their season format I would have said no. But now Russia's football season will coincide with the rest of Europe's. I'm going to say yes.

Re: ANZHI MAKHACHKALA
Well, I think things get just more interesting when they get into the CL. But they will probably do a ManCity in the beginning, too.

Won't FFP rules kill any hopes of European cup football for them?

Re: ANZHI MAKHACHKALA
don't know about FFP, but they could use one summer and spend like 500m euro and maybe in future the Russian Premier League could become household league like the Italian, English, Spanish and German leagues, they could generate great revenues

Re: ANZHI MAKHACHKALA
I don't think they will be able to compete with the best clubs in Europe. Dagestan is just not that attractive, no matter how much money there is.

Re: ANZHI MAKHACHKALA
Big chance for next season CL? How do their chances increase when the season is over and they finished in 5th? (qualifying the EL qualifying phase)

Re: ANZHI MAKHACHKALA
I think you may be right, but if they play Champions League each season and without spending too much, who knows...City are doing it right now, and they were nothing but a relegation battler or at best midtable side.

They train in Moscow and fly home for home games. :vagi:

Podolski rejected them for Arsenal
if Lord Poldi does not like erm, that means the force is not strong with Anzhi

Nothing will come out from Anji. You cant possibly have a top team emerging from the most dangerous region of the country on the brink of civil war

This. They're insignificant in every way and people only notice them when some mercenary decides he can add an extra few zeros to the end of his pay cheque by moving thereBe/\/ceCALI wrote:Couldn't care less about that damn team. Hope they fail miserably.
