Late in 99, knee injury, 5-6 months on the sidelines. Comes back, he plays 7 minutes, knee injury, he missed the 00-01 and most of 01-02. Comes back again, he leads Brazil to the WC glory, scores 8 goals, 2 against Germany in the final. Guess who is !?

Shame what happened to Cabanas, he was a player.
Glad he's OK now though.

Shearer deserves a shout......
He snapped his ligaments about 4 times his career and came back each and every time to end his career scoring over 400 goals.

Robert Schilenz?
Driving to a game in 1948, Robert Schlienz hit a pothole, the car overturned and his arm was damaged beyond repair. After amputating one arm, most players would have retired, but Schlienz kept playing. He went on to become captain of his team Stuttgart, won two national championships, and even played three games for Germany.

Valencia decieved you guys pretty bad lol..... his injury was'nt even that bad.
At the time SAF said he will be back in 3-4 months and be back to top form.
Now either SAF is a fckin prophet or Valencia's injury was'nt that bad and it was always expected he will be back to top form in about 15 weeks.

Re: Most spectacular comeback from a long-term injury.
I wouldn't say R9 had the most spectacular return because he unfortunately always suffered another major setback. With that being said, the fact that he suffered multiple 'potentially' career ending injuries and still performed at the level he did is phenomenal.
Del Piero struggled for form at the beginning of the 1998–99 season. In October, he picked up a serious knee injury in the 2–2 draw with Udinese. This kept him out of action for the remainder of the season. Juventus struggled without him and limped home to a lowly sixth place in the league.
After a serious knee injury, Del Piero came back and stayed fit fortunately.

Ankle injuries hurt alot but they dont end careers imo, but knee injuries can end careers.

Damn, but I'm surprised NO one has mentioned ABIGOD!!!!!
Goes from tumor to lifting the CL trophy. Then goes from liver transplant to what I predict as Abigod pt. 2.

You can still play football, while having a tumor, not a problem for Abigodbarca 2011 wrote:Damn, but I'm surprised NO one has mentioned ABIGOD!!!!!
